the nobles refrained from talking, and laid their hands on their mouths;

Their wives are foolish, and their children evil;
their enrollment by their clans was three thousand two hundred.
He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycamores with frost.
for their minds devise violence, and their lips talk of mischief.
Fools fold their hands and consume their own flesh.
their hair like women's hair, and their teeth like lions' teeth;
They withstood their enemies and fought off their foes.
all these were honored in their generations, and were the pride of their times.
Their sins increased more and more, until they were exiled from their land.
