Why was Michal so incensed over David’s dancing? (2 Samuel 6:20)
20 Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!

Was it just because he disrobed for this grand occasion? (2 Samuel 6:14)

14 And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.

2 Samuel 6:8

ESV - 8 And David was angry because the Lord had burst forth against Uzzah. And that place is called Perez-uzzah, to this day.

Perhaps Michal, as the daughter of King Saul and the wife of King David, may have felt (with a sense of wounded pride (the sinful kind)) that David's display of unrestrained emotion on the occasion of the return of the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem (which included leaping and dancing before the LORD with all his might (2 Samuel 6:14-16), while apparently not wearing any indication of his royal status) was beneath the dignity of David's position as king, which, in turn, also reflected negatively (in her view) on herself as his wife.

She also apparently placed a greater importance on the opinions of other people than on God's involvement in the situation through the presence of the Ark as a cause for joy, which was in contrast to David's reaction.

(However, in my opinion, there was no element of nudity or other indecent exposure on David's part in connection with this incident, or related to Michal's reaction to it.)
