What role (if any) do spiritual gifts play in love relationships?

Prophecy edifies the church, tongues edify only the speaker (1 Corinthians 14:4–5). So the loving thing to do is to refrain from speaking in tongues and let the preacher build up the congregation in love through his sermons.
