I believe Paul's point is that of these things only love is eternal. All that he has is nothing compared to the everlasting power of love (charity). 1 Cor 13:8 "Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away."
