What does the Bible say about being in a long distance relationship with your spouse?

What should we do one of our jobs requires us to be apart for a lengthy period of time, such as 2 years?

The Bible doesn't really say (to my knowledge), but I can think of examples that it illustrates.

For example: When kings such as David or any man in general had to leave for war or other duties, they left their queen/wife behind because war and some of those duties were no place for women at that time. The man is the head of the house and he had to take those matters into his own hands. Now, if the king/man needed something to be said to the queen/wife, he would send a messenger or letter to keep in touch.

Now, if distance becomes too much of an obstacle and becomes more hurtful to the marriage than beneficial, then maybe the wiser thing to do would be to ask God for guidance in finding a new job, one that will bless your lives and cause the marriage to continue to grow and blossom for His Glory. I hope this helps in some way! God bless you.

The only thing I thought when I saw this question was: Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control (1 Corinthians 7:5 ESV).
