I don't just mean the 'God will prosper you with wealth' but also the 'you are good enough for God' teaching.

2 Timothy ch3 states that all Christians should face persecution. Persecution is at the heart of Christianity, as demonstrated numerous times to the apostles. Firstly, 'you are good enough' is more Mormon than Christian. This can lead on to cheap grace. It would be more accurate to say: "You are no way near good enough, but God still desperately wants you!" Ultimately, if you pursue Christ for the money He will (not) give you, then you are pursuing money and not God. If you are satisfied in 'Christ' and wealth then you are actually satisfied in wealth and not Christ. Christ is so amazing that He is more than enough without wealth. As John Ruskin said, 'There is no wealth except life.' It would be richer to control money than for money to control you.
