This is a rather involved subject; much too long to treat here in any detail, and it also involves some different opinions. The best place for you to start is to read the History of the Rosary article on Wikipedia.

There are at least two issues when discussing the Rosary: One is the origin and use of the physical Rosary (a string of beads in various configurations) itself. The other is the history of the prayers and the sequence of prayers used in the Rosary Devotional. I had thought that Muslim prayer beads were brought back during the Crusades and integrated into Christian prayer, but apparently this is incorrect and the Catholic practice of using beads or knots in ropes to count prayers pre-dates the Crusades. Remember, however, that Muslims, Hindus, and Buddhists also use prayer beads of various configurations.

To most Protestants, of course, praying the Rosary violates Jesus command in Matt 6:7 in which we are told not use meaningless babble (or vain repetitions), as the Rosary basically consists of chanting the same prayers/ phrases over and over. (You can consult various sites online or watch EWTN network if you're unfamiliar with the prayers used in the Rosary.)

Great question I humbly submit that the concept or idea of the much later Roman Catholic rosary prayer beads came from Jewish origin of the tassels (tzitzit) used to remember and count the commandments. Numbers 15:39

The tassels (tzizit) are the hanging threads interwoven with a blue thread knotted together with special knots and found on the four corners or wings of a Jewish prayer shawl. The tallit itself is a white rectangular piece of fabric sometimes referred to or translated as tent.

Malachi 4:2 an old testament prophecy of Messiah bringing healing in His wings was completed some four hundred years later in the New Testament books of Matthew and then Mark.

Matthew 9:20 the lady with the issue of blood, knew the prophecy and acted in faith touching the corners / tassels

Matthew 14:36 the people knew the prophecy and acted in faith touching the corners / tassels

A repeat telling of knowing and then acting in faith on that knowledge.
Mark 5:27 the lady with the issue of blood, knew the prophecy and acted touching the corners / tassels.

Mark 6:56 the people knew the prophecy and begged to touch the tassels

The rosary prayers themselves were added at some point by infallible papal theology. And popes from Pius V in 1571 to the rosary pope Leo XIII 1878-1903 have advanced Mariology.
