The Canon law is the set of laws and regulations made by or adopted by church leaders, for the government of the Church and its members. Plain and simple. It is a book of rules, much like the Book of Leviticus, Commandments Mitzvot, Jewish Law Halakhah, Jewish Dietary Laws Kashrut, combined to the Jews. Even Non-Catholic Christian churches have a de facto book of rules. Whether Jewish or Christian (Catholic or not), the book of rules answers the nitty gritty details of how an organization is run. What are the rights and obligations of a church member? How does one register for baptism? What are the procedures when preparing for a wedding in church? Which days should people do fasting? Should churches have their own cemeteries? What are the procedures for removing a pastor from his post?
