What does it mean that Jesus is our Wonderful Counselor?

Isaiah 9:6

ESV - 6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Not in disagreement at all. I am learning too, and have always thought that Wonderful Counselor meant the Holy Spirit, the One that would indwell every believer after Jesus ascended into heaven. Thank you for this teaching.

Yes I do like this teaching also. Especially the explanation about Judges 13:18 about our human inability of understanding. The mystery of the Triune Godhead.

There are other visions or theophanies in Exodus 40:34 ; Leviticus 1:1 and Ezekiel 1:28 where the glory of God and the voice of God are perceived as being separated from one another; e.g. the glory filling the Tent on the inside and the voice calling from above on the outside of the Tent.

I am also learning, we all are as long as we live.

I have a study bible that says this whole Name in Isaiah 9:6 is "the Lord Almighty is planning grace, everlasting Father, a peaceable ruler" and explains that the name of a child is strictly linked to the religious beliefs of the parents.

I also heard that we should insert a comma between Wonderful and Counselor and examine the words separately? I don't think the original writings had any punctuation at all, or if they had it, it must have been different then our modern use.

This verse is been discussed so often, it was even mentioned as part of a 2015 Christmas royal speech.
