The Hebrew midwives feared God more than they feared Pharaoh. Because of their obedience, "the people multiplied and grew very strong" (Exodus 1:20). Why is this important? Because the next chapter introduces us to Moses, who then led the Jews out of Egypt to the promised land. Our obedience and repentance is necessary for God's blessings to take form in our lives.
