The bible says we are saved by believing the gospel. We do not have to say a prayer, but it is a good thing to do. I did nothing when I was saved but Just believe the gospel. And I thank God everyday for His amazing grace that saved a sinner like me. There is a good verse in First John 5:13 every one who has trusted Jesus alone for salvation should go to often. "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that ye may KNOW THAT YE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. And, John 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent me, that ALL that seeth the son, and believeth on Him, may have eternal life, and I will raise Him up on the last day. John 6:39 Jesus has never lost one. John 6:47 Verily, verily I say unto you, He that believeth on me HATH EVERLASTING LIFE. If Jesus has paid for all your sins, (and He has) you have no sins to pay for and so you can not possibly go to hell. Jesus has already paid your debt in full. AMAZING GRACE. We are all sinners, because that is part of our old nature, but they have all been paid for. First John 1:8 says, if we say we have no sin, we deceive our selves and the truth is not in us. So we all sin, but all of our sins have been paid for even before we confess them. We confess our sins to bring us back into fellowship with our heavenly father. But our relationship to Him never changes. We are a child of God forever and ever and ever. John 1:12 But as many as received Him, (the free gift of salvation by grace,) to them gave He power to become the Sons of God, even to them that believe on His name. Once you have trusted Jesus as your only savior, you can never be cast out or be lost. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, (everybody) that He sent His only begotten Son, (Jesus) that WHOSOEVER (anybody) that believeth in Him, WILL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE. If it is everlasting life how long is it. It is for ever and ever and ever. AMAZING GRACE. JESUS PAID IT ALL, AND WE DID NOTHING FOR IT.

The following two verses are commonly used to support the idea that prayer is necessary for salvation: Acts 2:21 Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Romans 10:9 If you confess (declare) that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved. But Ephesians 2:8-9 makes it clear that we are saved by the grace of God through faith in what Jesus Christ has done for us. And Romans 10:17 is clear that faith comes from hearing the gospel message of what Christ has done for us. God alone does everything we need for salvation. He sent his son Jesus to die for our sins and the rise again to restore the gift of eternal life. The Holy Spirit comes upon us bringing repentance so we become sorry for our sins and seek his forgiveness. The Holy Spirit also comes upon us opening the eyes of our heart to understand the gospel message and the desire to want this salvation. The gift of eternal life is now available to us. The next step is now up to us. We need to "receive" of "accept" the gift for ourselves. That is simply responding to God in prayer. Either of the verses listed at the beginning is a good example but we should pray inserting our own names and speak to God personally. I like the prayer Peter prayed "Jesus, save me!" Of course, we will also want to thank him for this amazing gift. Once we have accepted the gift the Holy Spirit comes to live inside us, guaranteeing our inheritance in the kingdom of God (Ephesians 1:13-14). The Holy Spirit now becomes our teacher and guide to living the Christian life. When we have doubts about our salvation it is usually because we have neglected our relationship with God. The whole message of the bible is designed to strengthen our faith because it is all about Jesus. Praying to God and asking him to show us how to apply his word to our daily lives will also strengthen our faith. Read your bible and pray every day. The doubts will disappear. There is no magic prayer to know you are saved because our great God is not a genie in a bottle.

Ephesians 1:1-14, and Romans 10:9-11 as already having been used in answers set the criteria for the Scriptural requirement for Salvation as given to Paul by the Holy Spirit. The only other thing I would add is that both open confessings of the Lord Jesus Christ with the mouth and baptism are outward expressions of inner belief. As to a specific prayer of Salvation, I have heard many different preachers encourage people to express their asking Jesus to save them and confess Him as their Lord at an open altar in a prayer but I believe that again this is just a way to express our inner desire of repentance and seeking of salvation through Jesus Christ in an outward way. John 14:6.

No one is told to say a prayer or believe only. Here is what the Apostles taught to everyone: Hear-Romans 10:17, Matthew 11:15, Acts 18:8. Believe- Mark 16:16, John 5:24, Acts 16:31-33, Acts 18:8. Confess-Romans 10:9-10, 1 John 4:15, Acts 8:35-38. Repent-Matthew 9:13, Acts 2:38, Acts 3:19, Luke 13:3. Baptized-Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38, Acts 16:31-33, Acts 18:8. Then God adds you into his Church Acts 2:41, Acts 2:47, Colossians 2:12, Galatians 3:27.
