Where did the water came from and the darkness before it was separated?

Genesis 1:1 - 31

ESV - 1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

It reads, 'In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."

I take it that where there is no light there's darkness. Darkness is the absence of light. Light has to be created, but not darkness. I take it that water and dirt are components of "the earth."

It doesn't say so, but silver, gold, iron, precious stones, etc were probably part of the earth that was created. I don't know of another place in scripture where it's said that these things were deposited into the earth.

I've never wondered where darkness comes from. I've never thought that it had to be created. I always thought of it as simply existing where there is no light.

The Earth is 75% water. If I read that the earth was created and water is mentioned, and I was going to ask anything, it would be 'where did the land come from.' The planet is mostly water. But that's just me...
