In my view no Christian can lose their salvation and here is the proof.

Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
(2 Corinthians 1:21-22)

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.
(Ephesians 1:13-14)

If we think we might lose our salvation then we are listening to the wrong voice, it is the enemy trying to deceive us. We need to listen to the voice of God through reading and meditating on the New Covenant (New Testament) that God has made with us. God has redeemed us, purchased us, set us free, and made us members of his family. We are all a beloved child of God. God will never disown us.

Even if we stray from a pure and sincere devotion to Christ, God our Father is always eagerly waiting with open arms, to welcome us back into the fellowship of his family (Luke 15:11-32 - Parable of Lost Son).

There are two types of people who consider themselves Christians:

One group, known as born again Christians, are those who were "chosen by God before the foundation of the world." (Ephesians 1:3) They cannot be "snatched out of His hand" (John 10:29) and they have a guarantee of eternal life because, "He who began a good work in you WILL carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." in John 6:44 Jesus said, “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them." Simply put, no, you cannot thwart God's eternal plan and become lost because, Tthose he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified," Romans 8:30. 

Then we have the notional "Christian," i.e. those that have a notion that they are a Christian. Some in this group proclaim that no one needs to be "born again"; all you need to do is seek the Lord and He will find you and save you. Sounds good until you read Romans 3:11, "There is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God." Psalm 14:2-3 and Psalm 53:2-4 "The LORD looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. All have turned away, all have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one." So try as sinners may they do not seek for the One True Living God; no they instead seek for a god that they feel comfortable with. One that doesn't convict them of their sin. Instead he pats them on the back after they sin and says, "Everyone sins so don't worry about it go and sin all you want. I understand."

Others in this group have never heard of being born again. Their parents took them to the "Churchianity Church" just down the street as a child and they simply continued going there when they become adults. Most likely their parents are not born again, their pastor is not born again, nor has he ever preached a sermon on being born again (John 3:3). And even though Jesus said, "You must be born again," they don't understand Him, so it must not be important. "After all our pastor would never lead us astray would he? All we need to do is believe that Jesus was alive at one time in history, you know just like Abraham Lincoln lived, and so did Napoleon and George Washington."

So, if you are a notional Christian who has never been born again, yes you can lose your "salvation" (whatever that is), but if God has drawn you into a relationship with Himself, and He chose you before the foundation of the world, He has some great news! He said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." Hebrews 13:5.

James Townsend I am a learner of truth and one that strives in the word

A simple answer would be ask, seek, and search. And yes, believing by faith is very important. Yes, God so loved the world that he sent his Son into the world that by those that believe through faith shall be saved. The verse John 3:16 is so popular that it is etched in people’s minds that encounter a relationship with him. 

Yes, this grace is a free gift, and asking is the way to salvation. But we should also beware of wolves in sheep's clothing or one's falling away. Yes, we should have wisdom and understanding, and let his light shine in us and through us to help others receive this salvation. 

Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation.

When a person believes the gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1-4), they are sealed with the holy Spirit until the day of redemption (Ephesians 4:30). If you could lose your salvation, how would you gain it back, when faith alone in Christ and His accomplishment for you on the cross is the only means of obtaining it (Ephesians 2:8-9)?

Ephesians 1:12-13: "12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,"

Jesus Christ from Heaven gave our apostle Paul the only gospel that saves today during the dispensation of the grace of God (Ephesians 3:2).

Paul's gospel:
1 Corinthians 15:1-4: "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"

When you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, and that He was buried, but rose again on the 3rd day, you are accepting God's free gift (Ephesians 2:8-9). You have accepted Jesus Christ as your savior in doing so (Ephesians 1:13), and are instantly sealed with the holy Spirit of promise until Christ returns to redeem you (Ephesians 4:30), and thankfully not just until your next sin!
