I support Trump, not because I like him, for I think he has lowered the office of the Presidency, is a oaf, womanizer, is crude and rude, and vulgar.

I support him because:
1. His policies promote religious freedom.
2. HIs policies promote American ideals and freedom
3. His policies promote America's religious heritage.
4. He promotes, hires, and consults those with Christian values
5. He is anti-abortion
6. He appoints Christians to judgeships, including the Supreme Court.
7. He is pro-Christian even tho he is probably not one himself
8. He tries to actually keep his campaign promises.
9. He supports our military.
10. His policies are good for the economy - the poor are better off then under Obama. Employment is good.

I would say that no individual or group of individuals has a monopoly on either virtue or vice. Peter advised his readers to honor the emperor (1 Peter 2:17), despite the fact that Caesar was a pagan, and even persecuted Christians (including martyring Peter himself).

Also, as much as we may disagree with any particular political leader, we have established procedures in this country both for electing them, and for disciplining or removing them. As long as they remain in office, they rightfully possess the powers and authority of their position.

In addition, as long as we live in an imperfect world, whatever "evils" they may exhibit or espouse in any person's view need to be weighed against the available alternatives and their foreseeable effects. 

Concerned citizens (including Christians) should exercise their constitutional freedoms of religion, expression, and protest, and involve themselves in the political process to the maximum degree possible, to assure that their viewpoints are known and taken into account. (In spite of the oppression endured by racial minorities at the time that he lived, Dr, Martin Luther King, Jr. still maintained his faith, and also recognized it as one of the greatest glories of America that its citizens had the right to protest.)

I humbly submit a few thoughts for your consideration in response to a anonymous inquisitor. With all the gossip one hears or reads these days from various anonymous sources, some almost reaching the speed of light to assign blame. Indeed it would be very easy, maybe just too easy believing the gossip and laying all the worldly woes at the feet of a man. (Isaiah 8:12; Proverbs 18:13; Luke 8:10; Luke 8:18)

Question: Why do so many Christians support our President?

1. All humans are flawed; yes some are more than others, and some see themselves in him, warts and all but somehow still being used by God.
2. A warrior that was willing to enter the ring fighting the good fight to right the many past wrongs done, that many others WOULD NOT FIGHT.
3. Fighting to slow the MURDER of the innocent unborn; isn't the blood of 62 million enough already?
4. Restoring the rule of law; where any accused faces his accuser and is INNOCENT until PROVEN GUILTY in a COURT of LAW.
5. Restoring "Common Sense" to a nation that has LEFT it's founding path morally and gone after other temporal gods.
6. President moves the U.S. embassy to Israel's capital Jerusalem from Tel Aviv 2017.

Bottom Line:
Jesus, when asked by His disciples for signs of His coming, the first thing said was: "Watch out that you are not deceived." (Luke 21:8) then again "Watch out that no one deceives you." (Matthew 24:4). One could extrapolate that the calling card sign to this period is deception (a world wide deception instantaneously). (2 Corinthians 11:14-15)

Consider for just a moment that the anonymous mischievous gossip and mantras put fore as factual by temporal powers; could in fact be the works of the prince of the power of the air. "Ah that's too judgmental or adversarial" some may say. Okay, but consider there seems to be only a few always evil or totally wrong items on the world's hate menu. With much of these dubious assertions coming from the milquetoast shadows.

I humbly submit that God can use anyone or anything He may chose to perform His will; after all did He not use an unclean raven to feed His prophet? So today why not use an ex-Democrat sinner who was not a problem for many until God dethroned a would-be champion? Even if you may not agree, it's something to consider as possible. After all He is management and your department is in sales friend. (Isaiah 46:10; Isaiah 54:15)

"First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be offered on behalf of all men, for kings and all those in authority, so that we may lead tranquil and quiet lives in all godliness and dignity. This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,…" I Tim 2:1-3

No matter how we feel about Trump, it is "good and pleasing" in the sight of God for us to support him with prayer and intercession.

There isn't an exception to this for bad kings, or crass kings, or kings that sleep around.

Also:

1. Not all Christians - not even a majority, support Trump. There are Christians who vocally support him, yes, but this doesn't mean that Christians overall support him.

2. Evangelicals in the U.S. voting for Trump is not automatically the same as support. In U.S. elections, there are only so many candidates, and many evangelicals at the time chose to vote for Mr. Trump over voting for someone who eagerly and vocally supported the slaughter of the unborn.
To break it down, 
60% of adult evangelicals voted in the 2016 election.
81% of those voted for Trump.
30% of those voted for Trump because they supported Trump (vs. Voting against Hillary or other reasons.)

So, what percentage of adult evangelicals in 2016 both supported and voted for Trump? Approximately 15%! That's nowhere near a majority of evangelicals in the U.S., and that's not even taking Christians worldwide into account.

3. Christians are to be subject to the governing authorities, regardless of whether we support them or not. President Trump is, as of this answer, the leader of the executive branch in the U.S., which is responsible for enforcing the law. Whether we personally support, dislike, or disapprove of his presidency is irrelevant to the fact that, as far as our earthly life goes, he's our president. The same goes for former President Obama or any previous or future president for Christians.

And which is worse? A president who violates rules of decorum and seems to have an untamed tongue and an ego, or an Emperor who regularly has people crucified or torn apart by lions, and who fosters people killing each other for entertainment? 

It's easy to forget that the 'governing authorities' Paul was referring to was the Roman Empire. 


4. He has not been convicted of any crime during his presidency. In this country, 'innocent until proven guilty' is far more important than declaring someone to be guilty based on accusations and hearsay. In the Bible, conviction based on the agreement of witnesses vs. Personal bias is also upheld. 

5. Many people who genuinely support, and even like, President Trump do not necessarily support all his policies or actions. And for the vast majority of Christians, they are in no position to hold Trump accountable or talk to him about areas he sins in or even his comments about needing no forgiveness. So their support of his positions on economy, or war, or trade, or illegal immigration, or abortion, etc. Would not mean that they must also support everything he does or says.

6. We don't actually know if Trump has any private accountability partners or Christians speaking conviction into his life. We can hope and pray that he does and that some of the Christians close to him will exhort him to stand firm in the faith and to tame his tongue.

7. God doesn't call us to live in bitterness or anger over the sins of others and how they get away with them.


That all said, there is a related concern when Christian leaders and prominent Christians dismiss Trump's sins as if sin itself is excused if it is for a cause that aligns with ours. This is not a Biblical position to take. Political gain or earthly power doesn't make sin irrelevant or a less serious matter. That Trump can be said to have done some good things doesn't make the bad go away.

There is also a concern when any Christian puts an earthly, temporary political win as superior to God's call to be holy and set apart.

Why we support all leaders is not only by acceptance of their policies but knowing every ruler has been sovereignly chosen by God to fulfill His divine plan. 

It's very hard for me personally to accept that it was God's choice for certain historical rulers and I have tossed up in my mind questioning why these, only to be left with the answer to myself, "God you are in control of the affairs of mankind and what is hidden from us is not to be questioned because YOU ARE LORD AND THE ABSOLUTE RULER OF THE UNIVERSE. According to this portion of Daniel Dan 4:32, The Most High rules the kingdoms of men and gives it to whom He will." 

As much as at the time Obama was God's choice and now Trump is God's choice. When I look into Revelation 12 I see that "The Woman"(Israel) was given "two wings of the great eagle" I believe the great Eagle to be America called to support Israel in her wilderness. I know many people do not believe we are this far into Revelation but I believe it's clear in the imagery to say that the vile hatred spewed out to destroy Israel is very obvious and the earth that swallowed up the river to be the coalition forces and the wrath of the dragon to turn on Christianity, as well as Israel, is also very evident in that whole middle eastern conflict. 

When America's leadership turned on Israel they were ousted and it's God's purpose that America defends Israel in Her wilderness experience. Trump is now that man chosen by God to defend Israel.

Christians support those in Authority and walk in obedience to the Laws of the land unless those laws transgress God's greater laws.

Like the other answers, I believe God can use flawed men to accomplish what His will is at various times in history. America is still the strongest economy and mightiest military in the world, so the leader is very important.

As the world was speedily headed toward globalistic emergence under the former Presidental policies, it seems God allowed a period of slowing by the America first policies of President Trump.

Why is this important? The Bible indicates that globalistic emergence along with catastrophic occurrences will usher in the setting for the emergence of the Antichrist [1 John 2:22, Revelation 1-18, Daniel 7:25 ] just to list a few verses about that time.

Now back to your direct question, I as a Christian and Minister do not trumpet President Trump's ways of expressing himself or what his true character is, but he says he is a Christian and he seeks the advice of Christian ministers. Also his policies concerning abortion and rights of religious organizations compared to the Socialist Liberal Politicians is so much closer to the Christian ideology there is no comparison.

President Trump like all of us may be flawed, but I believe God is using him at this time like he used King Cyrus to accomplish His purpose.

Trump has spoken up against abortion, against religious persecution, and has also made mention of the LORD and God’s Word! That is something I can not say for the other leaders.

Since the separation of Church and State, we as Christians don't have a moral obligation to wait for a pure and perfect candidate to run the State; the church as already thrown away the option of any involvement as such or providing a candidate who adheres to Biblical principals.

In this light, we Christians need to understand very clearly that we are not electing the Pope but a candidate who has our best interests and protection of our children's future in mind, irrespective of what his past or current behavior is. He will be answerable to Jesus Christ for his actions.

Right now, Americans need Jesus Christ to protect us from all these different ideologies that have been welcomed in the country. That is the biggest threat to stability. And because pious people have distanced themselves from "dirty politics," Jesus has used other alternatives.

My first reaction is to judge them and call them false Christians... however, I know this is not the righteous way. I'm seeking grace from the Lord to pray for these Christians. This is proving difficult for me because of my obstinancy. I try remind myself that, as a human, I don't have the power to truly see into their heart, and that I should be watchful and not judge others. Instead, I must trust in the faith of Christ and in the Lord's infinite wisdom.
