My understanding is that The Voice Bible (which appeared in 2012) describes itself as a "dynamic equivalence" translation that intends to make Biblical texts more understandable by presenting personal interactions from the Bible as direct conversations or dialogues between the parties involved (as they would appear if reading them in a novel or screenplay, for example) without intervening indications of who is speaking or other verbiage. (Sections providing descriptive information or other narration are presented in color-coded format to distinguish them from dialogues.) Emphasis is on the conveying of the overall meanings of passages, rather than a word-by-word translation of the original text, which was done with the intent of bridging the linguistic differences between the original Greek or Hebrew wording and English.

References to God as the LORD -- as a representation of the Tetragrammaton (YHWH) -- are replaced by calling Him "the Eternal One". The term "Christ" is replaced by "Anointed One", which is the rendering in English of the meaning of the term "Christos" in Greek.

Individuals involved in the publication of this version included not only linguists, but also artists, writers, and musicians.

The Voice is a faithful dynamic equivalent translation that reads like a story with all the truth and wisdom of God's Word. Through compelling narratives, poetry, and teaching, The Voice invites readers to enter into the whole story of God, enabling them to hear God speaking and to experience His presence in their lives. Through a collaboration of nearly 120 biblical scholars, pastors, writers, musicians, poets, and artists, The Voice recaptures the passion, grit, humor, and beauty that is often lost in the translation process.

What I've liked best about it probably, is that through the years the publishers have put out dramatic videos of certain passages/stories which you may find online!
These include some of Jesus's parables (Good Samaritan, The Prodigal Son, The Unjust Judge, The Sower, and more) Psalm 82, Proverbs 1-5, Isaiah 1, John 1, Road to Emmaus - The Voice Bible, YouTube · 8,000+ views · 3/15/2012 · by Thomas Nelson, etc.
