I believe that hunting for sport should be outlawed. Hunting for food? God ordained. Hunting for sport or financial gain (like ivory, etc) has led to the extinction of many animals in the past and is sure lead to many more in the future. Sport hunting is NOT God ordained.

Those of you out there who hunt for sport and call themselves Christians, might want to reconsider your relationship with Jesus Christ. Scripture condones feeding your family with the killing of an animal but does not sanction killing for sport or some kind of sadistic pleasure. 

Billions of animals are killed each day to feed the hungry. 99.9% are bred for that purpose. God put animals on this earth to feed man. Having dominion over animals doesn't mean, nor was it ever intended to mean, that man is to kill them just for sport.

In an answer above, I don't know where Mr. Houdmann (gotquestions.org) obtained the knowledge that "hunting is man's nature." It isn't in my nature nor was it in my father's or his father's. It used to be, but today, generations have existed without the need for hunting on their own. I have to go back 4 generations to find hunters in my family and I'm 70. My great great grandfather hunted for food, not sport.

What the bible says about christians hunting animals for sport is one thing. What we say about it is another thing altogether. What if you could interpret the bible as saying 'hunting animals for sport is okay.' Would you do it? 

The most important thing is what we think about killing animals for sport. 

The bible doesn't have to prohibit things for me to decide that I don't think I should do them. 

There are men who take multiple wives because there were heroes in the bible story who had multiple wives. Can you see how that can be not the right approach to determining what's right? Taking multiple wives was never the right thing to do, I DON'T CARE WHO DID IT! I would say 'ask any woman,' but there are some women who don't have a healthy sense of self awareness, and would repeat something theologically clinical that they've been trained to believe. 

Killing for sport is wrong. 

Catching butterflies and putting them in jars to see how long they can live without oxygen is wrong. Little boys will amuse themselves that way if you don't stop them. Then they grow up and think it's okay to hunt down a deer and mount its head on a wall in their home. 

If you need the bible to tell you hunting for sport is wrong you're missing something. If you're of a political mind and is shy about telling people who kill for sport that it's not right, you're missing something. If you want me to say this is only Danny's opinion, you're missing something. I'm saying it this way because I'm missing something! We all are!

There are people who say it's okay to marry children; they say they believe it's okay because the bible doesn't say it's wrong. If you think it's okay for a man to marry a little girl you're missing something. The bible shouldn't have to tell you it's wrong to marry a child for you to know you shouldn't do it. 

Wisdom rests in the heart of a man of understanding, but it makes itself known EVEN IN THE MIDST OF FOOLS (Proverbs 14:33). (emphasis mine)

What does Solomon mean by this wise saying? He means 'We know when we're wrong.' 

Wisdom is defined as 'knowledge of what is true and right COUPLED WITH good judgment and right actions. Solomon says that wisdom is at home in the heart of a wise man, but it doesn't hide itself from fools. The implication is that KNOWLEDGE is ignored by them, which makes them fools. 'Fools hate knowledge' (Proverbs 1:22). 'Fools despise wisdom and instruction.' (Proverbs 1:7)

"Is it okay to sin if I don't know I'm sinning? The bible didn't say it was wrong. Sin is breaking God's law. If it ain't in the law then it ain't a sin." (claptrap)

There's no indication that God had told the people they weren't to kill each other when Cain killed his brother Abel; did he not know it was wrong? The whole creation was eliminated by a flood sent by God before there was any formal law given to mankind. Why? Because 'The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of his heart was only evil continually' (Genesis 6:5). Were the people unaware of the depravity of their hearts because they didn't have a book of laws? Of course they knew; they were born with the ability to come to know. 

Here we are thousands of years later and the question on the floor is whether killing for sport (fun) is wrong. And some of us are pretending that we think it's okay! God help us!
