The High Priest Questions Jesus
The high priest then asked Jesus about His disciples and His doctrine.
Jesus answered him, s "I spoke openly to the world. I always taught t in synagogues and u in the temple, where the Jews always meet, and in secret I have said nothing.
"Why do you ask Me? Ask v those who have heard Me what I said to them. Indeed they know what I said."
And when He had said these things, one of the officers who stood by w struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, "Do You answer the high priest like that?"
Jesus answered him, "If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil; but if well, why do you strike Me?"
x Then Annas sent Him bound to y Caiaphas the high priest.

In that hour Jesus said to the multitudes, "Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs to take Me? I sat daily with you, teaching in the temple, and you did not seize Me.
And He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all.
"I have many things to say and to judge concerning you, but He who sent Me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I heard from Him."
These things He said in the synagogue as He taught in Capernaum.
"I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and you did not seize Me. But the Scriptures must be fulfilled."
Now about the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
Then Jesus cried out, as He taught in the temple, saying, "You both know Me, and you know where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know.
Therefore David himself calls Him 'Lord' ; how is He then his Son?" And the common people heard Him gladly.
They gape at me with their mouth, They strike me reproachfully on the cheek, They gather together against me.
I gave My back to those who struck Me, And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting.
Then Pashhur struck Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the high gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the LORD.
Let him give his cheek to the one who strikes him, And be full of reproach.
And the high priest Ananias commanded those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth.
And those who had laid hold of Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.
While Annas and Caiaphas were high priests, the word of God came to John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.
As well as Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the family of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.
And one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing at all.
