The Abomination of Desolation
r "Therefore when you see the s 'abomination of desolation,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" t (whoever reads, let him understand),
"then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
"Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house.
"And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes.
"But u woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days!
"And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath.
"For v then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.
"And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; w but for the elect's sake those days will be shortened.
x "Then if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or 'There!' do not believe it.
"For y false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, z if possible, even the elect.
"See, I have told you beforehand.
"Therefore if they say to you, 'Look, He is in the desert!' do not go out; or 'Look, He is in the inner rooms!' do not believe it.
a "For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
b "For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together.

So when you see the 'abomination of desolation,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not" (let the reader understand), "then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near.
"If we let Him alone like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and nation."
They also set up false witnesses who said, "This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against this holy place and the law.
Crying out, "Men of Israel, help! This is the man who teaches all men everywhere against the people, the law, and this place; and furthermore he also brought Greeks into the temple and has defiled this holy place.
Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate.
And forces shall be mustered by him, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress; then they shall take away the daily sacrifices, and place there the abomination of desolation.
And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days.
At the beginning of your supplications the command went out, and I have come to tell you, for you are greatly beloved; therefore consider the matter, and understand the vision:
"For indeed the days are coming in which they will say, 'Blessed are the barren, wombs that never bore, and breasts which never nursed!'
And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself; And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined.
Thus says the LORD: "As the new wine is found in the cluster, And one says, 'Do not destroy it, For a blessing is in it,' So will I do for My servants' sake, That I may not destroy them all.
I will bring forth descendants from Jacob, And from Judah an heir of My mountains; My elect shall inherit it, And My servants shall dwell there.
For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem; The city shall be taken, The houses rifled, And the women ravished. Half of the city shall go into captivity, But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
Then if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or, 'Look, He is there!' do not believe it.
And they will say to you, 'Look here!' or 'Look there!' Do not go after them or follow them.
If there arises among you a prophet or a dreamer of dreams, and he gives you a sign or a wonder.
Then Jesus said to him, "Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe.
2 Thessalonians 2:9
The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders.
He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men.
All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
2 Timothy 2:19
Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
For as the lightning that flashes out of one part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven, so also the Son of Man will be in His day.
Its young ones suck up blood; And where the slain are, there it is.
And as for you, son of man, thus says the Lord GOD, 'Speak to every sort of bird and to every beast of the field: "Assemble yourselves and come; Gather together from all sides to My sacrificial meal Which I am sacrificing for you, A great sacrificial meal on the mountains of Israel, That you may eat flesh and drink blood.
Their horses also are swifter than leopards, And more fierce than evening wolves. Their chargers charge ahead; Their cavalry comes from afar; They fly as the eagle that hastens to eat.
And they answered and said to Him, "Where, Lord?" So He said to them, "Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together.
