To the choirmaster. Of David.
In the Lord I take refuge;
how can you say to my soul,
z "Flee like a bird to your mountain,
for behold, the wicked a bend the bow;
b they have fitted their arrow to the string
to shoot in the dark at the upright in heart;
if c the foundations are destroyed,
what can the righteous do?"
d The Lord is in his holy temple;
the Lord's e throne is in heaven;
his eyes see, his eyelids f test the children of man.
The Lord g tests the righteous,
but h his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence.
Let him rain coals on the wicked;
i fire and sulfur and a scorching wind shall be j the portion of their cup.
For the Lord is righteous;
he k loves righteous deeds;
l the upright shall behold his face.

1 Samuel 23:14
And David remained in the strongholds in the wilderness, in the hill country of the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God did not give him into his hand.
1 Samuel 23:19
Then the Ziphites went up to Saul at Gibeah, saying, "Is not David hiding among us in the strongholds at Horesh, on the hill of Hachilah, which is south of Jeshimon?
1 Samuel 24:2
Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel and went to seek David and his men in front of the Wildgoats' Rocks.
1 Samuel 26:19 - 20
Now therefore let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If it is the Lord who has stirred you up against me, may he accept an offering, but if it is men, may they be cursed before the Lord, for they have driven me out this day that I should have no share in the heritage of the Lord, saying, 'Go, serve other gods.
If a man does not repent, God will whet his sword; he has bent and readied his bow.
Shooting from ambush at the blameless, shooting at him suddenly and without fear.
They bend their tongue like a bow; falsehood and not truth has grown strong in the land; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they do not know me, declares the Lord.
For you will put them to flight; you will aim at their faces with your bows.
Let them vanish like water that runs away; when he aims his arrows, let them be blunted.
My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart.
They have neither knowledge nor understanding, they walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken.
A sword shall come upon Egypt, and anguish shall be in Cush, when the slain fall in Egypt, and her wealth is carried away, and her foundations are torn down.
In my distress I called upon the Lord ; to my God I cried for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears.
Hear, you peoples, all of you; pay attention, O earth, and all that is in it, and let the Lord God be a witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.
But the Lord is in his holy temple; let all the earth keep silence before him.
He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision.
Thus says the Lord : "Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool; what is the house that you would build for me, and what is the place of my rest?
But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God.
And whoever swears by heaven swears by the throne of God and by him who sits upon it.
'Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What kind of house will you build for me, says the Lord, or what is the place of my rest?
But he knows the way that I take; when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold.
After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here am I.
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers.
Then the Lord rained on Sodom and Gomorrah sulfur and fire from the Lord out of heaven.
In his tent dwells that which is none of his; sulfur is scattered over his habitation.
With pestilence and bloodshed I will enter into judgment with him, and I will rain upon him and his hordes and the many peoples who are with him torrential rains and hailstones, fire and sulfur.
For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup with foaming wine, well mixed, and he pours out from it, and all the wicked of the earth shall drain it down to the dregs.
Let their own eyes see their destruction, and let them drink of the wrath of the Almighty.
He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.
As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness; when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness.
Surely the righteous shall give thanks to your name; the upright shall dwell in your presence.
1 John 3:2
Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.
They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.
