Every Bible teacher shapes the way that people perceive the Scriptures and also the way they perceive God and Jesus Christ through them. Like midwives, we devote ourselves to healthy births. Only our work is not bringing another life into the world, but we "labor in birth again until Christ is formed in you" (Galatians 4:19).
A believer's spiritual development can be warped by abusive and authoritarian ministers who misrepresent Jesus. Constantly reminding myself of this danger, I proceed with "fear and trembling," great caution, and constant dependence on the Holy Spirit.
