In this verse we see Jesus being mobbed by a crowd that is pressing in upon Him. We also see the faith of a woman who had been afflicted for twelve years with a bloody flow. She had the faith that all she need do was to get close enough to touch His cloak or outer robe to be healed. Many were crowding the Lord, but only this woman is recorded as having the faith to be healed by reaching out to Jesus. The King James version uses the term virtue in place of power. What this demonstrates is those possessing the faith only need reach out to the Lord Jesus Christ to partake of His virtue or power.

Under the Mosaic Law, this woman was unclean. Jesus did not rebuke her for reaching out to Him, rather He commended her faith. There are several lessons for the Christian to learn here. The first is that we must reach out to the Lord by faith. The second is that it is His power that restores us. The third, and often over looked, is the equality of access to Christ by both sexes.

Power left Jesus to meet the need of a desperate woman that exercised faith. Many were shoving around to see Jesus but they having possibly touched him had no affect at all. This woman's touch was a touch of genuine faith and the virtue that left Jesus was the same virtue exercised in creation. 

It was the power of the Holy Spirit that performed a great miracle and it was felt by Christ in His manhood as power leaving Him to totally heal this woman. When that faith touch had performed such a miracle, Jesus turned and inquired as to whom it was that made that touch of faith. 

A woman trembling and in awe and reverence due to the miracle of the event was finally spoken to by Jesus, and instead of being rebuked for disobeying the Law--which commanded anyone cursed with an issue of blood to stay away from anyone and to announce a warning of their presence when anyone approached--she had instead pursued healing from the merciful Savior and found her intense faith had been rewarded by total healing.

Jesus was the healer of the untouchable and He is today still healing those that exercise genuine faith today through ministries appointed by God in the Church. 

God meets the persons of faith always with the reward of their hope.

We know that Jesus has the inherent power to minister and heal supernaturally. That power came from Him but was always under His control. He knew who had touched His clothes but He simply wanted to pull the woman out of the crowd and let her praise God for her healing. It was a teaching experience for those around her. A miracle...a witness to the deity of Christ.

She was probably not married due to her condition. She was probably very lonely even in her family due to her permanently “unclean” state. This would make her among the weakest of the weak as far as provision and hope for her future. Not to mention the physical debilitation of anaemia due to blood loss. Christ’s power is made perfect in weakness. 

She saw her opportunity: Making the most of every opportunity is granted to us during our time-bound mortal existence and is valuable for our eternal existence. 

She acted wisely: With faith she stretched out her arm in the hope of touching the hem of his garment. 

The rest is some two thousand years plus of fruit-bearing food for his sheep, not to mention an eternity of praise for him.

Praise Jesus.

It is said if you have even an ounce of faith in the lord in your heart for your journey, even mountains will move out of their place for you.

Jesus set aside His diety, and was walking as a fully surrendered human. When the woman touched Him with faith, the Father alerted Him to the fact that power to heal had gone out of Him. Her faith was in the fact that Jesus was sent by God, the Messiah of Israel would be anointed with the power to heal. God released healing through Jesus based on this faith.

Another translation, the King James Version, has "virtue had gone out of him." Jesus certainly did NOT lose any virtue when He did this miracle. He is 100% virtuous ("who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth") -- 1 Peter 2:22 and 

2 Corinthians 5:21	--"He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."

Hebrews 4:15	 --"For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin."

I like what Michael Houdmann said, "Jesus asks, “Who touched my clothes?” (Mark 5:30). The disciples were incredulous, but Jesus knew that healing power had gone out of Him. We can’t “steal” a miracle from God. After the woman comes forward and explains herself, Jesus clears up any misconceptions about her healing, saying, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering” (Mark 5:34). God is moved to action by our faith, even when He’s in the middle of doing something else!
