Does Genesis chapter 1 mean literal 24-hour days?

Genesis 1:1 - 31

ESV - 1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Yes it does. The body functions on 24/7 hours per day, days in a week with 52 weeks per year.

I am well convinced by the answers of all those who have shared their ideas yet one thing came to my mind that I think of it worth considering.

Would it be "Jesus the Christ" who is referred to as the light on the first day of creation, figuratively different from the literal light referred to on the fourth day? Isn't there a verse in the New Testament, if I am not mistaken (honestly, I am not fond of memorizing chapters and verses in the bible, I am sorry for now, but I am working out on it), that says, "that Jesus is the first of the creation", and more so that "He declared Himself as the Light"?

Please correct me if you think I am getting away from the main point. I just want to express out what I believe could be the right answer even if it is based only on a little more than an instinct reaction. I love to be corrected because I want to be guided well and grow maturely in spirit for the joy of the Almighty God.

The bible says that the sun went down, sun went up. Signifying 1 day. Evolution theorists that do believe that he did create the earth will say that he extended it to a few thousand years. NO!!! God clearly said day one!! In a language that we could understand/translate.

It could be that for the first 2 days, a day was equal to one full revolution of the "deep", just as one full revolution of the earth is currently equal to one day.
