Can anyone talk about examples in the Bible where God led a husband to go away for an extended time from his wife?

The question is, 'What is the CHRISTIAN thing for a husband to do..?'

First, there are two answers to this. Of course, Christians pray all the time about everything; I don't think that's any real blockbuster advice. The two possible answers the question begs for are, 'he should not go,' or 'he needs his job, so he should go.'

Which one of the two choices qualify as a CHRISTIAN thing to do? I don't know of another possible choice other than staying with the wife or staying with the job.

There is another question that comes to my mind, however. 'What is the Christian thing for the wife to do if the husband wants to stay with the job?'

I don't have a christian answer for either question. I have at least one sneaky suspicion; I believe the wife wants the husband to give up the job, and the husband wants to keep it.

I worked in a business that kept me away from home a whole lot, for over 40 years. Faye and I missed each other a whole lot. The rewards were good; she worked, but she didn't have to. She understood that we wouldn't be able to live the way we do today if I didn't work the way I did.

I recently retired. We don't owe anybody.

I thought the thing to do was try and finance a good life for my family. Maybe it was the christian thing to do, and maybe it wasn't.

if we had to live apart, I wouldn't have done it. That ain't the kind of security I wanted to provide for my family. All she had to do was ask me ONCE to quit! She never did. Everybody is different.
