Luke 11:34 "The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness."

Luke 11:35 "Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness."

Luke 11:36 "If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light."

In Matthew 11:24-28 Christ teaches the worthlessness of self reformation. In 11:29-32 Christ rebuked his audience calling them an evil generation always seeking a sign. He declared as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites that he (Christ) was a sign unto them. 

In continued warning an rebuke, Christ states in v.31 that the queen of the south (Sheba) also to be judged, will condemn this generation (people) because she came from very far away to hear Solomon's wisdom. Referring to himself, he then declares a greater than Solomon is here. 

v.32 Nineveh as well shall condemn this generation. Christ states that Nineveh repented when Jonah preached to them. Again referring to himself, he states a greater than Jonah is here.

The issue is that this audience had the incarnate, living Son of God, the Messiah standing right in front of them yet they could not "see" him. What little bit of light they had was not light at all but darkness. 

As Christ stated in Matthew concerning the parables 13:13 "Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand."
v.14 "And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:"
v. 15 "For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them."

These people were "spiritually" blind.
