Why does God continue to let me suffer physical attacks by a spirit after I have repented?

I moved into a haunted house in 2007. Yeah I didn't believe in those kind of things either but this spirit what ever it is attached itself to me and physically attacks me day and night. I turned my life around right afterward now it's been 3 years and nothing I have said or done has made a difference. Can anyone help me please? God Bless, John.

If you know a local church and pastor who is familiar with spiritual warfare, then I highly encourage you to seek them and talk to them about this. The important thing is to ask them if they have engaged in actual, active, spiritual warfare. If they have never driven evil spirits out before, then they do not yet possess the gifts of spiritual discernment. Their advice will be of limited value to you.

We as Christians, all have the Holy Spirit in us, and our God is greater than any evil spirit. But unless we are trained, we may not possess the proper spiritual discernment to handle evil spirits. All church activities, whether it be teaching, evangelizing, pastoring etc require learning, practicing, mentorship, discernment, and growing in strength and understanding. Spiritual warfare is not any different, and should not be treated lightly.

John,
You said that "you" turned your life around 3 years ago. I don't know if this means you were a Christian, got out into sin and then repented or that you've never been saved.

John, only you know where you stand with the Lord, whether saved or unsaved. Please understand the gravity of James 2:19 "Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble."

Believing in Jesus and knowing why he died is not enough. The demons of hell know this.

Salvation is not about reformation but regeneration. You said you prayed. What did you pray for? The Holy Spirit will lead to a conviction of being helplessly lost and in desperate need of a savior. Next he will point the individual to The Lord Jesus Christ. The one and only savior who died in our place, was buried and rose from the dead.

Romans 10:9-10 tells the lost sinner : "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

John, Did you confess the above in your prayer? Did you acknowledge that Jesus Christ is the only offering for sin acceptable to God? Did you ask him to save you?

I hope that you did but if not, I pray the Holy Spirit will speak to you now and open your eyes to the mercy, grace and power of the living God to save eternally and give you the peace, comfort and security only he can provide.

Cory new thumb David Cory Enderby I'm nobody special. You should check out Jesus!
I don't have many scriptures to cite here, but unfortunately, I do have personal experience concerning this. I say unfortunately, because I almost wish sometimes I had the limited demonic understanding and experience most Christians have.

First of all, consider that you may have opened a door to demonic influence somewhere down the line. Examples of this are: making a deal with satan, dabbling in the occult (palm reading, psychics, witchcraft), drugs and sorcery and possibly prostitution.

If you have done any of those things, just know that when you come to Jesus, you are forgiven. Sometimes we can't erase the past consequences (crimes, std's, etc...), but we can move forward in the new freedom Jesus extends to us.

One sin that I have seen cause a kind of torment is sexual sin. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:15-18 that when you have sex with someone you become one flesh. If you get with very sexually active people, you're bringing some bad stuff (not just std's) into your life, like torment and severe demonic influence.

For me, it was mostly drugs and music. The day that I got mad at a Christian family (i was a new, weak believer), and decided to follow satan, I started talking to him just like I did God. What happened blew me away. He answered! After that, I knew all this was no joke and came back to God, but I stepped into some new spiritual place and started having serious spiritual manifestations. I still do. I call it spiritual discernment. I can tell when demons are around me and I am gaining more knowledge as to how they operate.

One important thing to remember with demons, is that Jesus gave you authority over demons (Luke 10:19). I exercise that authority all the time. When the enemy comes in (usually when we're doing things for God), I command him to leave in Jesus name. Just remember, Jesus is almighty. He has all authority. He gave you authority. Exercise it. Do not tolerate evil.

Years ago, I lived in a house that someone claimed was murdered there. I remember feeling evil all the time around me. I would be awakened at night constantly, to the point that I would be exhausted the next day. I would always ask Jesus to come sit beside me on my bed. I remember waking one night feeling something tingling on my legs, and that was the only place Jesus could have sat. He is there. He cares immensely. But, my problem was that I tolerated it. I would run the tv all night instead of commanding them to leave and exercising the authority Jesus gave to us.

Demons are no joke. They feed on your fear and enjoy it. Stand up to them. God will be on your side. Don't stop until they leave.

Another instance and I'll close is when my wife used to have her own apartment, I remember sleeping on the couch one night and having something pressing down on me while I was asleep. I couldn't quite wake up. When I did finally snap out of it and sit up, I knew that was a demonic attack and started assessing what was in her apartment and what I felt she should get rid of. I believe that demons will have a right to be in your home if you have demonic things in there. My wife had this huge painting with Egyptian symbols all over it on her wall. She got rid of that and many other expensive paintings, books and music. Be led by the Holy Spirit when you do a personal inventory of your home and get rid of anything that could be demonic. I just recently had a friend get rid of about 3000 cd's.

John you say,....
I cant believe that Jesus is not with me.(this is doubt)

Then you step out in faith here by saying:.. I called on Jesus and he gave me the power to over come the worst attack.(this is FAITH)

John KEEP stepping out in FAITH, believe always he is there never doubt him & what he can do when you call on him & he'll always be there. We must BELIEVE cause when we doubt we let open a door for Satan to enter.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV)
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

God allows the testing of faith in order to sanctify the believer, as occurred with Abraham (James 1:2-8; 2:14-26). God uses trials to test and to grow the quality of the faith of believers, to prove that His justification of them was an accurate appraisal. He desires that they grow in their relationship to Him that He might produce Christ’s virtue of faithfulness within them (Matt. 25:21). As Christians learn to trust what God says they possess in Christ, they can discover freedom from sin and the power to glorify God as Christ produces his character in them (Eph. 1:15-23). God’s Spirit enables sanctification in the same way that He enables justification, through faith in what God says He has done and will do in Christ (Gal. 3:1-5; 5:25).

Faith yields in the believer a confidence or sense of assurance as he or she continues to trust God through His promises (Heb. 11:1). This confidence becomes possible when a believer can identify with the help of the Spirit of God ways God has transformed him or her (Rom. 8:13-16; Phil. 3:10; 1 John 2:3; 3:14; 5:18-20). New Testament authors unashamedly refer to this confident faith as a knowledge of God, albeit a partial knowledge (1 Cor. 13:9).

James 1:2-7 (NKJV)
2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,
3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;

It is my opinion concerning your ordeal. I also had a very similar fate. We live in a large old house that is placed over an Native camp, also in the thirties, I practicing witch lived here and is said to have did abortions. I fought with the evil for three years. Please go to my website godsbarnchurch.com, look under origins of church. In my experience the demon would be in the barn, we would pray over the barn come back to the house, the doors would be locked. This type of activity can be unnerving. But I assure these creatures are powerless against the name of Jesus Christ. I recommend you command the creature to leave in the name of Jesus in each room of the house. I also recommend you celebrate communion in your house often. Rest assure it is warfare, but when you come through this, you will be a strong changed Christian. Please write me at the website, do you have other folks living with you?

Again please write, you will get through this. We will be praying for you. Reverand Michael

hello there, i can understand your pain and suffering. I'm not an expert in theology but i'm a born-again christian, and ever since my heart and soul has changed positively great. About your problem, i firmly believe that no demon (nor the devil himself!) can hurt you if Jesus is in your heart (i.e., salvation) because who can be against God... no one and nothing. Jesus has promised to take care of His flocks from all harm (i.e., physically, spiritually and mentally) no matter what. And He is God, therefore "He never goes back on His words! ".

We must remember that God has made it clear when He was on the cross, that we are either immediately with Him in Heaven, or immediately in hell(see Luke 23: 39-43 and 2Corinth. 5:6-8.). Therefore, there is no such thing as ghosts! There are however, demonic spirits which is what you are probably dealing with. If you are saved, then these demons can attack from the outside but cannot possess your spirit while the Holy Spirit resides in your heart.

In dealing with these demons, you must remove all forms of occult activities from your life (for example: witchcraft, Ouija board, tarot cards, etc...). Then if you are not saved, you must repent, and ask Jesus to save your soul! Then in Jesus' name rebuke, bind, and cast down these demons! It can help to have other Spirit filled believers pray with you for Spiritual healing! And always remember that God has promised that he will not allow believers to be tempted beyond what you can handle (see: 1Corinth. 10:13).

Finally, keep in mind that God created man in 3 parts: soul (mind), body (flesh) and spirit (heart); and that any part can become ill. If you have repented, and became saved, prayed to overcome demonic activity with no results, than you may want to consider another possible cause, mental illness. Both Vernon and I have dealt with bi-polar disorder in our lives. Remember also, that most Christians do not understand this fact, that if the body can get sick, and the spirit can get sick than so can the mind. If you have tried every spiritual, and biblical method for spiritual healing, then please seek help from someone in the medical field (psychiatrist.) you may need meds. To heal your mind. This (along with prayer) could help what is happening to you. My husband and I will keep you in prayer. God Bless, Sue & Vern

Firstly you must be a born again believer, if not you may go through what the 7 sons of Sceva went through in Acts Chapter 16. You must also know and understand your authority in Christ and the power in the name of Jesus that only born again Christians have. You may also need to study the word to gain faith in this area of your life.

Being a spirit filled Christian also helps to understand things of the spirit. Not getting tied up in what some say you are filled when you are born again which is true but an infilling, which is different. My wife and I have been in situations such as yours and have experience in this type of warfare. You'll need to hear God on what is in the house and perhaps its origin.

Some things carry demonic spirits with them such as souvenirs, toys, dolls etc. The Holy Spirit can show you the items that are needed to be removed. You may be required to anoint the 4 corners of the property cast out the demons and forbid re-entry. Then you may have to anoint the home and each room as well continuing to cast out demons along the way.

You MUST hear the Holy Spirit on this and you must be BORN AGAIN. If you are not a born again Christian all you effort is in vain. If you are born again then nothing you have done or any sin you have committed has brought this on you in spite of what some people may suggest. They just don't understand this part of spiritual warfare.

I am also going to give you an email address of a friend of mine who is more or less an expert in this area, so you may want to email her and get some advice.

Also, listen to what Colin Wong has said, that is great wisdom. Follow his advice as well, he is leading you in the right direction.

John,

Maybe you're just doing something right! It is only natural to have doubt in your heart because you are still living in a body of flesh. Bad things happen to good people, but that is not a bad thing. I know in my experience of surrendering my life to Christ completely for the last few years, and surrounding myself around those in Christ who are doing the same, the enemy will try to attack us even more as we try to draw closer to God. Look at what happened to Rick Warren's son. The Word says the "the enemy came to kill, steal and destroy, but I came to bring life abundantly." God is not forsaking you for your sins. If you've have been pursuing God, it probably means you've just gone up higher on the enemy's hit list.

Just as Job was tested, we too will be. The Lords faith in you is so strong that he has no problem allowing the evil spirit to continue to attatch itsself to you. Someone with a strong faith, who's worked hard to do the right thing, been through alot and has suffered through some things, their faith will only get stornger in sufferage. The Lord our God knows how stong we are and truly created us for his glory and pleasure. He's always boasting on his most faithfull children in the heavenly realms, is he boasting on you right now, Keep The Faith, Through it all, Keep the faith.

Hello John. I know where you come from, because I have also been attacked by the forces of evil. I have been deceived by the enemy before, and have given in when tempted. Spiritual warfare is not to be taken lightly, and we know for a fact that if we do not fight this war, if we do not take up the full armor of God, we will lose because we aren’t actively taking our stand in Jesus Christ.

That being said, you must stand in the name of Jesus, and in His name fight against this evil spirit that is tormenting you. I know that the idea of spiritual war is frightening, but praise God that He cannot lose! The fight has already been won by Jesus Christ our Lord, and the demons, even the devil himself, tremble at the sight of the cross, at the name of Jesus, because they know that it means their destruction has been made complete.

That being said, this spirit is likely attacking you to test you, to tempt you into denouncing the faith, so that the devil can drag you down with him. The Lord says through Paul: “Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand (Ephesians 6:11-13).” I don’t know why the devil is attacking you with this spirit, but I do know that Jesus has already won, and you must simply put on the armor of God, and take up the sword and shield that is the word of God, to wage war against the evil forces in the high places.

Jesus has full authority over demons, and so do we (Matthew 8:28-34, 10:8), therefore we must stand by faith in Jesus’ name, trusting in His victory over evil, and trusting in Him to give us the strength to stand in this war we fight. Do not fear evil, and do not let the devil deceive you, as we know also that there is no creature, not even demons or the devil himself, that can separate us from God’s love in Christ (Romans 8:35-39). Believe on Jesus Christ, and command the demon in Jesus’ name to leave you alone, and to never come back, while ensuring that you have armed yourself and are fighting against it. When you do this, it will leave, just have faith in Jesus our Lord.
