Before we were saved we had no ability to defeat sin's temptation. “As the salt flavors every drop in the Atlantic, so does sin affect every atom of our nature. It is so sadly there, so abundantly there, that if you cannot detect it, you are deceived.” ~ Charles Spurgeon We will not be immune to sin's temptation until we receive our glorified bodies after death but if we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus' atoning sacrifice we now have the capacity to not sin. It is the Spirit of Holiness living in us that defeats the habitual sin that many Christians struggle with.

I can testify to you that God does deliver from the power of sin and can help a person to righteously and holy in this life. That is the extraordinary message of the gospel. The power of Christ's sacrifice is able to transform a life so completely that the saint will never return to wicked habits that they were bound up in. I hope these Scriptures will help you begin your study on this subject. There are many other passages that might be cited especially from the Old Testament. The idea that men and women can be secure and justified while they are living in disgusting sin is a heresy that has done immeasurable violence to the Kingdom of God. It has convinced many sinners that they need not repent and has caused confusion among the saints. I say to the church of God as an echo of Paul, "I marvel that you are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel. Who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth?" I thank the Lord that He completely delivers, not only the intellect, but also the everyday life of those that come to Him.

The bible says "if we say we have no sin we are a liar and do not the truth." If we could live a sinless life we would soon quit trusting in Jesus work on the cross to save us. Pride says I can live a holy life in my self. Jesus says He is the way the truth and the life. If we have Him we have perfect righteousness that He gives us when we put all our faith and trust in Him alone. I can only thank God that I have His righteousness so I do not have to trust in my own filthy rags righteousness. When I take my eyes off of Hiim I will sink like a rock. Just like Peter did when walking on the water to Jesus. If we could live a sinless life Jesus would not have had to die for us. Praise God He did.

The Bible says in 1 John 3:9," whoever is born of God does not commit sin, because his seed remains in him, and he can not sin, because he is born of God". In 1 John 2:1, "My little children, I write these things to you so that you may not sin. If anyone sins, we have a Counselor with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous one. John is speaking here with fellow christians, it seems that the first verse contradicts the other. Many professing Christians today do not really understand the term 'born of God' or 'born again'. Jesus speaking to Nicodemus in John 3 said that except a man be born again he cannot see or enter the kingdom of God, he further explains that being born again is like a spirit, like the wind that come and goes. In 1 Cor 15:50, Paul said that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, neither corruption inherit incorruption. Now when do we inherit the kingdom of God? Paul continues, verse 51-52,"Behold, I tell you a mystery. We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, AT THE LAST TRUMP. For the trumpet shall sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and WE will be changed." In other words, we will only be born again, born of God, as legitimate sons of God, brothers to Christ, AT the time of Resurrection! when Jesus returns a second time. 1 Thes 4:16-17 says the same. As Christians, we have to master a sinless life, with the help of God's Holy Spirit dwelling in us, we can do it. Walking with God is keeping God' commandments. That's righteousness.

When Adam and Eve sinned in the garden of Eden, all humans took on sin nature. It is impossible for a human not to sin even after being saved. Psalm 14: 2-3 says, The Lord looks down from Heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt, there is no one who does good, not even one. In Romans 3: 10-12 Paul quoted this in the new testament. There is no one righteous, not even one, there is no one who understands, not one who seeks God, all have turned away, they have together become worthless, there is no one who does good, no not even one. Jesus is the only one who ever has or ever will walk this earth without Sin.

I believe that it is almost impossible for us humans to be sinless in our physical life. Possibly the greatest evangelist, St. Paul's life demonstrates this. I will ask you to please read Acts of the Apostles chapters 23 to 26 with an open mind. You will see that in more than one instances where Paul has missed the marks. He himself has confessed that he was not perfect (Phil. 3:12). Though in ch. 27 he comes out with flying colors. Here are the things in which Paul missed the marks. 1. Paul had not only desire to go to Rome (19:21) but had the promise of the Lord that he will go there (23:11). Yet many a time he relied on human strategy to save his own life in order to reach Rome. He employed his sister's son and the Roman commander to foil a plot to his life (23:16-22). Also to save his life he pleaded to Caesar (25:11). 2. Paul, when hit at his face by the command of the high priest, had lost his cool for a moment (23:1-5). 3. To save his life he caused a strife between Sadducees and Pharisees (23:6-10). 4. If Paul had not pleaded Caesar for his case he could have travelled to Rome a free man (26:30-32). The modern day famous preachers, many of them adored world wide, name their institutions after their names and leave the institutions in their children's care, considering their empire to be their own. Compare here with Ps. 49:11, where this type of practice is not appreciated. Many of us are guilty of pride and taking of the glory for ourselves that actually belongs to the Lord. St. Peter has given some guide to become sinless "Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God (1 Pet. 4:1-2). 2 Corinthian 3:18 gives some guidance how we can grow in the likeness of our Lord. Philippians 3:14-16 gives a definition of perfection. Let us be perfect in that perfection. "Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind (v. 16).
