The short answer is God's saints; both the ones who are asleep in Christ and then resurrected, and the ones who are alive at Christ's return. The Bible talks about two resurrections. The first, will take place at the end of time when Christ returns: the dead in Christ will rise first, the saved who are alive will be taken to meet Christ in the air (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17) and the wicked who are alive will be destroyed by the glory of Christ (2 Thessalonians 1:7-8). This is the beginning of the Millennium. Some Christian authors interpreted this event the secret rapture; however, the Bible does not teaching such thing. Thessalonians 4:16-17 describes this event as a loud shout and accompanied be the sound of God's trumpet. Also, Revelation 1:7 says "every eye will see him;” obviously there is nothing secret about this rapture. Both, the resurrected and the living righteous will be taken to heaven for 1000 years (Revelation 20:5-6). During the 1000 years the Earth will be desolate (Jeremiah 4:23-28), and Satan will be bound on it (Revelation 20:1-3). Christ and the righteous will judge the lost who are in the grave, plus the devil and his angels Revelation 20:4; 1 Corinthians 6:2-3). At the conclusion of the 1000 years, Jesus with His saints will return (Zechariah 14:5) the Holy city settles on mount of Olives (Zechariah 14:4-10; Matthew 25:31; Revelation 21:1-3). The wicked will be raised and Satan released (Revelation 20:5-7). He will try on last time to deceive the world (Revelation 20:8), will surround the holy city (Revelation 20:9) and be destroyed by fire (Revelation 20:9).

Some of us believe as Peter did (Acts: 2: 16: "But this is what has been spoken through the prophet Joel: 'In the last days I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh....") that we are living in the last days. He has poured out his Spirit on all believing flesh. We continue the work begun by the apostles and the Church until Jesus's final return. If this is foreign to you you might want to research to see how few believers trust the rapture doctrine.
