God is holy, eternal, almighty, and totally self-sufficient. He does not need any created being, but we do need Him. All of creation is dependent on the life that God alone sustains. "He makes gras...

Romans 11:33-36

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!

"For who has known the mind of the Lord,
or who has been his counselor?"
"Or who has given a gift to him
that he might be repaid?"

For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.

God is eternal. He is maximally perfect. He is the author of all created things, and is totally self sufficient. He does not need us. We were created for His glory, not our own.

The most loving thing that a perfect being could do would be to create other beings to enjoy Himself. And that is what He did.

Of course He needs us. He has chosen to work with us to complete His will. After all He placed man as a vice regent of His creation.

The fact that God became Man (as in mankind) is enough reason to know how important we are to Him.

God does not work apart from man, otherwise there would be no need for us to have a free will.

God does not need us, He wants us. He created us because He already had a Son. He loved His Son so much He wanted to have more children. That's where we came in. However, Eve ate of the forbidden fruit. She disobeyed God. We are now no longer perfect and cannot be in the presence of God (Habakkuk 1:13). Thus, God had to send His only Son, whom He loved to die for us. In the end, through Christ's blood, we will be God's children just as He intended us to be.
