The Bible is a collection of books, written by dozens of authors over many hundreds of years. (some 1500 as Michael said). Some are very brief–less than a page–while others are much longer. But in spite of their diversity, when you examine them, you discover they all have a common theme: God’s relationship with the human race. The Bible is divided into the Old Testament, containing 39 books, and the New Testament, containing 27 books. The names given to the Old in the writings of the New are "the scriptures" (Matt. 21:42), "scripture" (2 Pet. 1:20), "the holy scriptures" (Rom. 1:2), "the law" (John 12:34), "the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms" (Luke 24:44), "the law and the prophets" (Matthew 5:17), "the old covenant" (2 Cor. 3:14). There is a break/an interruption of 400 years between the Old Testament and the New. "What is the Main Point of the Bible?
