My mother was a victim of an assault, which is how I came to be. When I was born, I was given up for adoption and relinquished to Colorado State Orphanage for Neglected and dependent children. By age 5, I was adopted and taken to Fort Collins, CO, raised there, served in the Military, served in law enforcement for 25 years, then elected as the Mayor of my community 3 times. I've lead two different bible study groups for many years, helped lead many people to The Lord, and talked with many groups, fundraisers, about adoption, and giving a child a chance to live. In 2005, God blessed me with finding my biological mother along with 4 sisters and 1 brother I never knew I had. Today, we are still one family and love each other. My adopted parents past on in 1994 and 2000, so it didn't hurt them, which I still miss and love. God knows how to work thee things out without politicizing the topic of trying to justify killing an innocent baby that cannot fight for him/her-self. Genesis 50:20 is where Joseph, who was adopted, told his brothers that what they intended bad, God made good. Trusting God is the best rule of thumb. I've since wrote a book about my life. It is called Baby Boy-R, which details much more. The strongest values I learned in life was in the orphanage. I learned to accept people for who they are, regardless of their background, share everything that I have, and not to stereotype people. I used those values while in law enforcement, and as the Mayor of our great city.

The Bible is very clear on abortion. It is very appalling to hear Christians say "the Bible doesn't mention abortion". The Ten Commandments list "You shall not kill." One Jew explained it to me more clearly, it should be understood as "You shall not kill with intent." Abortion is killing an innocent child with intent. The murder of the little ones during the birth of Moses and Jesus are horrifying stories. All Christians agree that the killing of innocent lives is a grave immoral act. Christ loves the children, he said "Let the children come to me." Who are we to decide which ones should live, and which ones should die? Mother Teresa, during her acceptance of The Nobel Peace Prize 1979, spoke of abortion, "Many people are very, very concerned with the children in India, where quite a number die, maybe of malnutrition, of hunger and so on, but millions are dying deliberately by the will of the mother. And this is what is the greatest destroyer of peace today. Because if a mother can kill her own child - what is left for me to kill you and you kill me - there is nothing between."

The Bible doesn't straight forward say anything about abortion. As a Christian, you shouldn't believe in abortion. We believe that life starts as soon as the baby starts to form in the womb, not when it comes out. Some abortions occur because of a raping. Even in the occasion, abortion isn't a good solution.

The Bible doesn't explicitly talk about abortions for very obvious reason: in Bible times it was a shame for a woman not to bear her husband's children. In Genesis 16 we learn that because Sarai was unable to bear children, she encouraged Abraham to sleep with Hagar in order to have a child. In those days it was inconceivable for someone not to desire a baby; actually the policy of the many babies the better, opened the door to polygamy. Undoubtedly, an abortion is a violation of the Sixth Commandment. Unfortunately, the issue has been greatly politicized and is being seen by many as a political stand rather than a moral or religious struggle. Some politicians today have no problems denouncing abortion as an evil legal act of taking an innocent life while quietly working on legislation to cut or eliminate aid for poor mothers. If someone is sincerely concerned about the unborn welfare, it would make sense to be equally concerned about a newborn lacking proper nutrition, housing or medical care. This type of hypocrisy damages the credibility of many antiabortion fighters and gives ammunition to their critics that are trying to justify abortion. And there are cases in which the life of the mother or the viability of the fetus outside the womb is of great concern. Today, due to the medical advances, we can diagnose very accurately many abnormalities while the baby is in the womb and the decision of terminating a pregnancy should rest with the parents and qualified medical personnel. Although I oppose abortion, I also oppose the government interference with this decision. This issue should be approached in prayer and consultation with qualified physicians, free of outside threats and intimidation.

The Bible is pro-life even if the word “abortion” does not appear. Scripture is clear that all humans have value because they bear the image of their maker (Genesis 1:26-28; James 3:9). James 3:9, King James Version: 9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Genesis 1:26-28, King James Version: 26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. In laymen’s terms, that means humans are valuable in virtue of the kind of thing they are rather than some function they perform. Humans have value simply because they are human. Because humans bear the image of God, the shedding of innocent blood is strictly forbidden (Matthew 5:21 "Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment").
