I use the K.I.S.S. method many times to explain the Bible. K.I.S.S. is Keep It Spiritually Simple. So here is my understanding of Rhema v.s. Logos.

LOGOS is when a person reads the Word and it is information. Information that is understandable, but doesn’t seem to work in the persons life or doesn’t connect the “dots” so to speak. The principle or concept is not working in their lives. Logos is the unrevealed Word to the believer.

RHEMA word is when the Word is revealed in such a manner that it works in the persons life. It is the “Aha” moment in the persons life.

A simple example is when a child understands the difference between adding and subtraction versus multiplication and division.

Another example is as a pilot you understand that as you keep pulling the stick back to climb, if you don’t release the stick at some point the aircraft stalls and pulling the stick back is no longer effective… and if you keep pulling back on the stick, you will stall out and be diving with the stick in the full back position which is designed to climb, not dive... that is a real “aha” moment!

Rhema is the revealed Word working in a believers life!

The pilot releases the back pressure on the stick, allows the aircraft to gain airspeed and now pulling back on the stick once again allows the pilot to climb.

Once you understand the consequences you now have Rhema working in your life.
