The context of Romans 8:37 is persecution. Read a little bit above it and that becomes clear. And so the answer to what we are and what happens during persecution is clear - We are conquerors! We are victorious! Nobody can separate us from the love of Christ! Our faith is strong and not destroyed! Even through trials, through tribulations, through the worst crap that this world can throw at us - we are more than conquerors through it because we have Christ supporting us.
"More than a conqueror"! Simply put, everything we'll ever go through, trials & tribulations, sickness, grief, all of the "human" experience. Jesus took it all into Himself, His battle, He conquered! As we are now in Christ, we are simply waliking in His footsteps, resting in HIS finished works at the cross. We're "more than" because He is "Greater than"!
