We should treat others as we would like to be treated which supposes we want the very best spiritually for ourselves. Luke 6:31 "And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise." The individual who follows the Golden Rule refuses to say or do anything that would be detrimental to or make things worse for himself or for others.
