Mary was merely the young lady that YHWH used to introduce His Son, Yeshua, into a physical body. She was not a 'goddess', someone to be revered. Even she proclaimed Yeshua as her Lord and Saviour. YHWH said we must NOT worship anyone else but HIM, and this includes Mary.
The Hail Mary is a traditional Christian prayer (Catholic, Orthodox, Anglicans and Lutherans) asking for the intercession of the Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. This simple prayer expresses a lot about Christian tradition: 1. That Jesus is God, and Mary carried her in her womb. 2. That interceding for one another is encouraged. c.f. 1 Timothy 2:1 3. That interceding for one another does not undermine the saving grace from Christ.
What is the Hail Mary that Catholics say so often? The phrase "Hail Mary" is identified with the Roman Catholic liturgicals. It is a salutation founded on the exalted status of Mary in the afterlife. Roman Catholic dogma holds that Mary ascended to heaven after living a holy and sinless life on earth and that she can intercede for believers. There is no evidence from Scripture that supports this assertion. Evangelical Theology holds that Mary was an ordinary person who was graciously used by God for His divine purposes (Matthew 1). She was the mother of the incarnate Jesus. Scripture does not accord Mary any priestly office or divine essence. She herself considered Jesus as her saviour. I believe Mary like other saints of yore has rested in the Lord and awaits the final trumpet (1 thessalonians 4:13-17). She does not enjoy the venerated status assigned to her by Roman Catholic theology. She cannot intercede for believers in death.
