My aunt, who was a Lutheran, died recently. Included in her celebration of life was the a section called CREED. I was surprised when it contained the words: I believe in...the holy Catholic Church,... (End). ( those two words were not capitalized in the CREED I was looking at and my keyboard did the change ) Since Martin Luther, objected to the Catholic Church , or better said, wanted it to reform, was confused. I thought since the word catholic means "universal" perhaps that was their thought. Earlier this morning I read some questions and answers taken from Catholic books and papers. Question: how prove you that the church hath power to command feasts and holy days. Answer: By the very fact of changing Sabbath into Sunday which Protestants allow of; and therefore they fondly contradict themselves by keeping Sunday strictly, and breaking most other feast days commanded by the same church. Taken from: " Abridgement of Christian Doctrine," by Henry Tuberville,D.D., of Dousy College, France(1649) , page 58. Considering feasts, I would like to share. A few days ago I was reading about Saint Patrick. Yesterday, the supposed day of his death, was the official feast day set up by Catholics to honor him. He was a English- born Roman Catholic missionary. They suppose him to be the one who brought Christianity to Ireland, yet the Apostle James came earlier. " Come out of her ( false religious system) My people." Rev18:4. Also note Mt. 5:19 , Ex 31:17,18
