What does David mean when he says he wants to dwell in the house of God forever?

Psalms 27:4

ESV - 4 One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.

David was a man after God's own heart. He loved God, who saved him from bears and lions, while he was a young shepherd. God gave him the tenacity to kill Goliath; God stopped him from killing king Saul, who was jealous of him. God forgave him from the instigation of killing of Uriah, the husband of Bathsheba. There were other discrepancies, and God instigated that his son Solomon would be king after he died. He was loved by God and that's why he would always dwell in the house of the Lord God forever until he died. Amen.
