Is it true that 'where God guides, He provides'?
Isaiah 58:1 - 14
ESV - 1 Cry aloud; do not hold back; lift up your voice like a trumpet; declare to my people their transgression, to the house of Jacob their sins. 2 Yet they seek me daily and delight to know my ways, as if they were a nation that did righteousness and did not forsake the judgment of their God; they ask of me righteous judgments; they delight to draw near to God.

I would say that it IS true, but I would also say that, in God's omniscience, His provision may not take an exact form that we request or expect, but that will nevertheless result in our ultimate good (even if or though that good may not be fully and finally realized until eternity). For example, it may be in the form of being given the spiritual resources to deal with a difficult situation while remaining faithful to His commands and teachings.

Where does this saying come from? The saying “where God guides, he provides” comes from a paraphrase of Isaiah 58:11. The Contemporary English Version of this verse is translated as: “The Lord will always guide you and provide good things to eat when you are in the desert. He will make you healthy. You will be like a garden that has plenty of water or like a stream that never runs dry.” Other versions of Isaiah 58:11 convey the same meaning but sometimes use other words for “guide” and “provide.”For example, the King James Version has: “And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.” A Key Bible Verse on God’s Guidance Is: “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” – Psalm 119:105 Key Bible Verses on God’s Provision include: Jesus promises here, “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” – John 15:7 “I will bless her [Jerusalem] with abundant provisions; her poor I will satisfy with food.” – Psalm 132:14 David says here, “The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.” – Psalm 34:10 “The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.” – Psalm 23:1 --Whitney Hopler

It’s true that “where God guides, He provides,” for no one can come unto Him unless you are led by His Spirit to His Son and to the Father. (John 6:44 / 14:6) When Jesus came to the Sea of Galilee and went up into a mountain and set down there, a great multitude came unto Him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed and many others and cast themselves down at His feet and he healed them. (Mat. 15:29-30) Seeing the wonderful work they wondered and praised and glorified the God of Israel. For three days they were with Him, and knowing that they had nothing to eat Jesus said, “I will not send them away hungry lest they faint in the way.” Being led by His Spirit and hearkening to His voice is one being chosen, for the scripture says, “For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring.” (Isa. 44:3)
