There is no direct mention of pedophilia in the Bible. But, there are numerous biblical principles that definitely apply to this perverted and abusive sin. One such principle is the Bible's view of...

Galatians 5:19-21 “Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in the time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

That’s quite of list of what the fruit of the Spirit is not. Let’s break them down individually. The first four terms are closely related and I would like to refer to them as the “Formidable-Four”. Since all are closely related to sexual failures I will speak to them together.

Adultery is “moicheia” in the Greek which is associated to the broader Greek word for Fornication “porneia”, yet Adultery is specifically speaking to one person who is married who is involved in a sexual act that is not approved by God’s original design.

Fornication “porneia” is where we get our English word “pornography” and includes all forms of sexual sin. Anything outside God’s design of marriage is fornication. As Hebrews 13:4 says “Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.” It can also include the meaning of “idolatry” or the worship of anything outside of God.

Uncleanness is a broader term used for any form of “unnatural pollution” in a natural or physical sense. The intention here is meant to focus upon any form of unnatural perversion acted out by oneself or with someone else.

In a similar manner, lewdness is a refined term for the word “Lasciviousness”. The term is used for any form of sexual excess or absence of restraint, generally debauchery or the unceasing insatiable desire for pleasure.

Paul speaks to this in chapter one of his letter to the Romans. “Therefore God also game them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.” Romans 1:24-27

Combined together these “Formidable-Four” are powerful in destroying many strong people. Even the strongest of all men on the earth could not overcome them. Samson in the Book of Judges 14-15, was possibly the most powerful man on the earth who ripped apart a young lion with his bare hands, captured three hundred foxes, divided them into pairs he tied them together by their tails and fastened a torch in the tied tails, and later on he killed one thousand men with just the jawbone of a donkey. This guy was fearsome, but he was duped by the Formidable-Four as displayed in Judges 16. He could not control his lust for the flesh, lust of the eye, and the pride of life. 1 John 2:16 In the end, it was his doom and he died after being tortured and mocked by his enemies.

While it does not clearly express it, the Bible tends to show that sexual sin has much greater consequences in this life as well as eternal death, if the person does not accept Jesus as the One who paid for our "imperfection" at the Cross.

I tried to stop sinning before I met Christ and always failed. It was only after the power of God the Holy Spirit came into my life by my belief in Jesus, that I found He has the strength to help me repent of my evil ways. Zech 4:6 Today, I agree that I have no power to repent and agree with God that I want to sin, its fun, but part of me wants to obey Him. Then I find the dynamite (dynamis) power of God to free me from my own evil desires to obey. Luke 24:49
