This is an interesting question, Iupeli. 

Everyone must go through the valley of the shadow of death. And it's cold. But trust the Good Shepherd's promise, that His rod and staff can comfort your soul. You might be going through this valley as I write; hear your Savior say, "Follow Me!" Don't be afraid to cross it--He'll be your light in the valley. 

Fear no evil! Because your Shepherd is so near! Jesus said, "I am the Light of the world, he who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but will have the Light of life." Then through this valley there won't be any alarms to alarm you, for you can count on the Savior's smile as you trust Him. He'll carry you in His loving, mighty arms--

"So Jesus told them this parable: “Which one of you, if he has a hundred sheep and loses one of them, would not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go look for the one that is lost until he finds it? Then when he has found it, he places it on his shoulders, rejoicing. Returning home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, telling them, ‘Rejoice with me, because I have found my sheep that was lost.’ I tell you, in the same way there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need to repent."

Isaiah 40:11

Like a shepherd He will tend His flock,
In His arm He will gather the lambs
And carry them in His bosom;
He will gently lead the nursing ewes.

Let me offer you how to interpret Old Testament scripture the prophets wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

2 Peter 1: 21: For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

When you begin to realize that scriptures were testifying of Christ,then you understand psalms was referring to Christ.

I’ll give you another example. This is written in Acts 2 25: For David speaketh concerning him, "I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: 26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: 27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption." Was David speaking of himself or was he being moved by the Holy Spirit speaking of Christ? When we read on we are told who David was referring to:

Acts 2: 30: Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; 31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

So you see, David did not speak of himself, but he was writing being moved by Holy Spirit speaking of Christ. 

The Apostle wrote to rightly divide the scriptures:
2 Timothy 2: 15: Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

So when you read Old Testament scriptures, in most cases apply Christ to them.
