Hebrews 2:3, "..how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him..."

Deuteronomy 28;66,67 - "Your life shall hang in doubt before you; you shall fear day and night, and have no assurance of life. In the morning you shall say, 'Oh, that it were evening!' And in the evening you shall say, ' Oh, that it were morning!' Because of the fear which terrifies your heart, and because of the sight which your eyes see."

Jeremiah 14:13, "Then I said, 'Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, the prophets say to them, you shall not see the sword, not shall you have famine, but I will give you assured peace in this place.'"

1 Thessalonians 1:5, "For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake."

2 Timothy 2:3, "You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ."

2 Timothy 3:14, "But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them..."

Hebrews 10:22,23 - "Let us draw near with a true heart in the full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful."

1 John 3:16,19 - "By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brethren. And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him."

1 Samuel 16:7, "...for the Lord does not see as a man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."

Revelation 3:5, "He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before his angels." (Jesus)

This is His Blessed Assurance! So Luke 22:71, "...What further testimony do we need? For we have heard it from His own mouth."

The apostle John wrote to his churches "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life (1 John 5:1). John also said in his gospel book about Jesus birth, life, ministry, suffering, death, resurrection and ascension to heaven "Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life [eternal existence] in his name" (John 20:30,31).

The apostle Paul said that faith [the ability to believe and trust in what God has said] comes from hearing the Word of God "Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ" (Romans 10:17).

The entire bible is God's revelation about Himself: his nature and character, his promises to his human creation, his plan and purpose for human life, his plan of salvation for all who would believe. When we read, study, meditate and reflect on the Word of God in the bible, especially the New Testament about Jesus Christ, we come to believe that what God said is true. Once we believe we are born again as a new creation and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, who becomes our resident teacher. The HS affirms the truth of God's word, convincing us it is true, and compelling us to trust in God's plan and purpose with all of our lives.

When we spend time with God every day: studying the bible, praying, worshipping, serving others and sharing our faith, we develop a close [intimate] personal relationship with God. Our assurance in God's gift of eternal life flows out of this close relationship. If we drift through life having a casual, ambivalent, relationship with God, we will always have doubts about our eternal destiny. As we draw close to God all our doubts fly away. That's what the apostles, John and Paul, are exhorting and encouraging us to live out.
