In my humble opinion the short answer would be two different belief systems one to a moon god and the other to the One True God.

One based on love, peace and respect for all of God's creation, the other not so much, with different believers you get different actions!

One with the true light and the other with just a shadow.

My wife Faye and I fasted every Wednesday for about 2 years. Then it started to feel like a ritual so we quit. For me, it was really good. (I never try to speak for her or anyone else on how they feel about a thing). I looked forward to it every week. It helped to keep me reminded of the distractions of life; things that cause us to not retain God in our thoughts.

As for this anonymous person pronouncing that "Christians don't fast the same as Muslims," I have a few questions... Who told you that? How did you come up with that? Why should "Christians" and Muslims practice their different religions alike? (Yes, they are both religions, and fasting is a religious practice, although it isn't exclusively practiced by people of faith in a deity).

Are ALL "christians" included in this assertion? How about "muslims," does this mean ALL of them?

I don't believe all muslims fast... There's this belief out there, it seems to me, that "christians" aren't as devout as muslims or hindus or what have you... I think that's faulty guessing; It has to be guessing; You'd have to have personal knowledge of millions of people for it to be anything other than guessing.

What does it serve to guess about such trivial matters? If "christians don't fast the same as muslims," what of it? If on the other hand, christians and muslims fast at about the same rate, then what?

Years ago, I planted an apple tree in my yard. I didn't plant an orange tree; Oranges won't grow in Atlanta....
