Although the Bible (and specifically the Old Testament) never speaks (to my knowledge) of abortion in the sense in which it is discussed or practiced today (that is, the termination of a pregnancy through a surgical procedure performed as a result of deliberate choice), there are passages such as Exodus 21:22-25 that speak of a penalty of death for someone who injures a pregnant woman in a manner that causes the untimely birth and consequent subsequent death of her fetus (the same penalty that would have applied if the fetus had already been born as a baby in a normal manner).

In addition, other passages in the Bible (such as Jeremiah 1:5) refer to God knowing individuals even prior to their being formed in the womb. (God even speaks of that forming as an action that He personally carries out.) Psalm 139:13-16 expresses a similar perspective.

When considered in the additional light of the Bible's teaching in Genesis 1:26-27 and Genesis 9:6 of God creating humans in His own image, all these references would indicate to me that the Bible regards abortion as the equivalent of the taking of a life.

This is a very timely question and I humbly submit for your consideration:

One could opine that within scripture there is no exact verbiage for ABORTION, which is true. But there are references to the ideological parents and conceptual end product for such vile transgressions along with their consequences. (Exodus 1:16; Isaiah 46:10; 2 Corinthians 4:4)

(Genesis 9:4) Blood has life or put another way, the life is in the blood, therefore it's precious to God as we see in (Genesis 4:9): "Listen! Your brother's blood cries out to me from the ground!"

(Genesis 9:5) God lists three very specific examples stated explicitly or in detail so His creation will not become confused as to what He commands them now.

(Genesis 9:6) This bullet point simply stated is: only humans can murder and when they do, the currently quite unfashionable payment due as required by God, is their own life.

(Genesis 9:9) This covenant predates or is before the ten commandments or (Exodus 20:13) the sixth commandment "DO NO MURDER" or any of the Jewish laws contained within the book of Leviticus.

In Hebrew "kill" can be expressed with six different words, but murder has with only one; now reconsider the following scripture from above: If a wild animal KILLS a person, it must die (in this case operating within its natural nature as an animal knows no better) but still must die.

Anyone who MURDERS a fellow human must die. (in this case they're operating outside the designed natural nature and DO KNOW better).

(Psalms 106:37; Psalms 106:38; Jeremiah 19:4; Jeremiah 19:5)

Bottom Line:
Consider our moral decline as we have MURDERED (aborted) over sixty million innocent children since the high court gave their blessing or green light to Murder Incorporated aka Planned Parenthood. In Jeremiah's day they also had a palace of murder.(Jeremiah 7:31; Jeremiah 7:32)
