What does it mean that Jesus is the answer?

“Jesus is the answer” is a popular slogan. Missing is the question. Jesus is the answer to what? What are people trying to convey when they claim that Jesus is the answer?

Although I can think of many potential areas or ways in which Jesus could serve as an answer, I would say that the way that addresses the most fundamental issue and need for humans (as well as being the first one mentioned by God in the Bible in Genesis 3:15) is as the answer to the estrangement between God and humanity resulting from sin. I regard this as the most important way because it makes it possible for sinful humans to live eternally in God's presence through faith in the redemption that Jesus achieved by His sinless life, atoning death, and resurrection.

That salvation then provides the answer for humans to a multitude of other issues, including relieving guilty consciences; repairing broken relationships with other people; giving meaning and purpose to our earthly existences; allowing us to erase our worries and doubts; and even ultimately bringing peace to the entire world.

"Jesus is the answer" is a popular phrase and absolutely true. The phrase is commonly used by people who have recently come to faith in Jesus, as part of their personal testimony. Jesus forgave my sins and took all the guilt and shame away, they will say. Jesus delivered me from my addiction (ie, drugs, alcohol, pornography, etc), and took even the desire away. Jesus has healed my past hurts and helped me restore my relationships with my (spouse, children, parents). Jesus has given me so much love for other people that I never thought possible. Jesus has made my life worth living and every day is now filled with joy. That's a lot and I've heard all of it in personal testimonies.

People who have been Christians for awhile, and know their bibles well, can recount numerous other reasons why Jesus is the answer from our own personal relationship with him. Here are a few more examples that come to mind.

Jesus paid the penalty for all my sins through his suffering and death on the cross, so now, by faith, I have a right relationship with God that is personal and intimate (Romans 5:1-21).

Jesus' resurrection from the dead has made me spiritually alive (Colossians 2:13), I am born again as a brand new person and creation, so I can now live a life that is pleasing to God (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Jesus gave me his Holy Spirit to seal his gift of eternal life (2 Corinthians 1:21-22). Even though I may sleep in death, i will never die (1 Corinthians 15:1-58). My home is in heaven (2 Corinthians 5:1-4) and I will live for eternity in the new earth that Jesus will create (Revelation 21:1-21).

Jesus is the Lord of my new life (Acts 10:36). He trains and equips me (2 Timothy 3:16) to complete all the good works that my Father in heaven has prepared in advance for me to do (Ephesians 2:10). He gives me wisdom when I have difficult choices to make (James 1:5). He carries my burdens and gives me rest (Matthew 11:28-30). He never leaves me or forsakes me (Matthew 28:18-20).

Jesus is coming again to judge and punish all evil and wickedness to deliver his father's perfect justice (Matthew 25:31-46). He will reward every believer for their faithfulness to him (Revelation 22:12).

Because Jesus is God, everything that the authors learned about God from his revelation in the Old Testament shows us many more ways that Jesus is the answer. For example, Psalm 91 shows us many more reasons why Jesus is the answer.

Jesus is the Creator, Redeemer and coming King. The Alpha and Omega, the beginning and end. The apostle John ended his gospel with these words "Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written."

In my opinion, it would take a mountain of paper to record all the reasons why Jesus is the answer. I am so glad he is. Hallelujah!

Jesus is the answer to our broken relationship with God. When God created Adam and Eve, they enjoyed perfect fellowship with Him. But Adam sinned by disobeying God, thereby bringing death into the world (Genesis 3:8–19; Romans 5:12; 6:23; 1 Corinthians 15:21–22). A significant part of that death is spiritual death. Humanity’s relationship with God is broken. God provided a covering for Adam and Eve (Genesis 3:21) and promised a Redeemer who would defeat Satan and reconcile God and man (Genesis 3:15). -- Michael

After describing Christ’s past work on Calvary’s cross (Romans 5:6-8), Paul describes Christ's present work at God's right hand (Romans 5:9-11): Paul says Christ died to save us and now lives to keep us saved. See https://biblia.com/bible/esv/romans/5/10

But Adam sinned by disobeying God, thereby bringing death into the world (Genesis 3:8–19; Romans 5:12 – Michael

Concerning the (contrast of) the work of Adam and the work of Christ, Paul wrote Romans 5:12 and following. 1. The reality of his act (Romans 5:12a): "When Adam sinned, sin entered the entire human race." 2. The scope of his act (Romans 5:12b-13): "So death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned."

The biblical term for God’s act of making peace with sinful humanity is reconciliation (see 2 Corinthians 5:18). Romans 5:10 reminds us that, in Christ, God’s enemies were made His friends and given life: “If, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!” -- Michael

2. Christ's present work at God's right hand (Romans 5:9-11): Paul says Christ died to save us and now lives to keep us saved. In a summary of condemnation (Romans 5:12-21) Paul contrasts the work of Adam (the sinful father of all people) with the work of Christ (the sinless Savior of all people). A. The work of Adam (Rom. 5:12-15, 16a, 17a, 18a, 19a, 20a, 21a)1. The reality of his act (Rom. 5:12a): "When Adam sinned, sin entered the entire human race."2. The scope of his act (Rom. 5:12b-13): "So death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned."

Grant further said, “My home is in heaven (2 Corinthians 5:1-4) and I will live for eternity in the new earth that Jesus will create (Revelation 21:1-21).”

My favorite verse in Revelation is Revelation 21:4 because it says in heaven there will be no more pain! Michael, quoting Revelation 21, said, “‘He [God] will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” (Revelation 21:3–5).

“Jesus is the answer for the world today; above Him there’s no other, Jesus is the Way” (song by Andraé Crouch).

Chorus:
Jesus is the answer for the world today
Above him there's no other Jesus is the way
Jesus is the answer for the world today
Above him there's no other Jesus is the way
Jesus is the answer for the world today
Above him there's no other Jesus is the way
Jesus is the answer for the world today
Above him there's no other Jesus is the way

If you have some questions in the corners of your mind
And traces of discouragement and peace you cannot find
Reflections of the old past, they seem to face you everyday
There's one thing i know for sure that Jesus is away

Chorus

I know you've got mountains that you think you cannot climb
I know that your skies have been dark, you think the sun won't shine
In case you don't know
I'm hear to tell you that the word of god is true
And everything that he promised
I tell you he would do it for you

Let me tell you that

Chorus 2x

Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).
