There is no direct guidance in the bible on questions of salaries for workers in the Christian faith. But I believe there are some general principles we can use for guidance.

The book of Proverbs says we should seek the advice of others. I would encourage you to contact Christian organisations who have evangelists on their staff. Ask them what salary range they use, but keep in mind that an acceptable salary reflects the quality of education and years of experience.

If you are looking to work for another organisation, then you would need to search the internet for evangelist positions that are posted by Christian churches or other para-church organisations.

If you are looking to start a ministry from scratch, then you would need to establish a registered charity, or join an existing charity but raise your own funds. Many missionaries around the world are sent from local churches or denomination but they have to raise all or a portion of their own support. So the question becomes, "What will I need to live on?"

The apostle Paul was sometimes supported by the local people where he was evangelising and establishing a church. In those cases, the local people provided his food and shelter (his living costs). In other cases, the people in the local church were too poor to provide that support. So, Paul had to engage in the trade of tentmaking, which he had learned before he became an evangelist. Paul would make tents during the day to pay for his living expenses, then he preached the gospel in the evenings and on the Sabbath day, or other day when the people weren't working.

The bible is clear that people working for the kingdom of God deserve a fair wage for their work. That wage often comes from the people they are serving, the local church that is being established. But God promises to meet our needs, and he may well surprise us where the needed funds may come from. In the book of Acts, people sold land and other valuable property and gave the money to the church, that met the needs of the people, including those who were apostles, prophets, teachers, evangelists, etc.

God bless your desire to advance his kingdom as an evangelist.
