Is there an angel for every nation?

The dead sea scrolls and the Greek text are different than the masoretic text.

Deuteronomy 32:8

ESV - 8 When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when he divided mankind, he fixed the borders of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God.

To me, a belief in the divine inspiration of Scripture in its original language and recording does not preclude the possibility of subsequent variations appearing or arising from the activities of translators or transcribers. This could lead to differences such as those noted in the question. However, to my knowledge, even those differences are insubstantial in comparison both to the overall length and detail of the Bible, as well as to the treatment of the matters with which they deal. The amount of consistency and agreement overwhelms them.

Also, although I would agree that the Bible speaks of angels being assigned to the individual Christian churches to whom the glorified Christ gave messages in the book of Revelation, I would also say that, in my opinion, the books of the Bible as a whole all originate from the same source -- the direct working and inspiration of the authors by God the Holy Spirit Himself, with no need for the designation or intermediate activity of angels assigned to particular nations in conveying them (2 Peter 1:21).
