Why did God hide his face from David? (Psalm 30:7) Lord, when you favored me, you made my royal mountain stand firm; but when you hid your face, I was dismayed.
Psalms 30:7
ESV - 7 By your favor, O Lord, you made my mountain stand strong; you hid your face; I was dismayed.

The old nature, when it is threatened by circumstances, will feel a certain way; can be made to feel that God hasn't kept a promise; or some other bogus argument against God. That's the way of the old nature that's embedded in our flesh; the old man.
But we have a new nature!
We're told to no longer walk (live) as THE REST of the Gentiles walk (live), because their understanding is darkened; that they are alienated from God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart (Ephesians 4:17, 18).
I highlighted the two words, 'THE REST' because most of us live in close community with others who are "the rest" of the Gentiles (unbelievers). Paul is telling the Church (us) what we're up against. We can be outnumbered in our own families. (I know that can be hard to admit, but it's very real). So what are we to do?
If you have heard Jesus and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: take off the old man and be renewed (made new) in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness (vss 20-24).
What does this mean in practical everyday living?
It means you can think the way you thought before you were made new in Christ (the old nature is still with you), or you can think like the new person that you are, made new by God and according to God (allied with God by your new nature).
It's all a matter of how we learn to think. It's determines how we FEEL!
