What does it mean to sing unto the Lord a new song?

Does this mean a possible new song I've personally written for the Lord?

Psalms 149:1 - 6

ESV - 1 Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of the godly! 2 Let Israel be glad in his Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King!

Singing a New Song is repentance. We are continually drawn into a worldly way of thinking, but true joy is in turning to Lord, obeying His Word, and loving His Son; singing His song anew.

SInging a new song is Joy. It comes out of a place where you know in your deepest soul that He has forgiven you: That you walk in something glorious because of Jesus.

The outpouring of your heart in song has to be Joy. It can be argued it's a "brand new song" just carried by you and the Holy Spirit: or that it is a song that you have just learned or re-discovered that speaks to you.
