The term born of God is found primarily in the book of 1 John. First John 5:1 says, "Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child...

John 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

How can one be reborn of God the Father? Our old inherited sinful nature requires us for a physical new birth that spiritually leads us to have a fellowship with God. There were many who followed Jesus, who received Him, and were given the power to become sons of God (John 1:12) which then led them to be “made and baptized.” (John 4:1) What leads one to be made and baptized for a new birth is repentance, putting your trust in and confessing to the Lord, and waiting upon the Lord, for then shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. (Isa 12:3) For this is the gift of God who giveth thee living water. (John 4:10)

To be born of God one needs to be born of water and of the Spirit (John 3:5), just as David had a repentant heart, God the Father’s forbearance (Psalm 51:1-4) that leads one as a sheep to hear his voice and follow Him as the Father has given. (John 10:27-29) The woman who came to the well was amazed and knew she was not worthy, but was waiting for Christ to come who would tell her everything. Her faith in believing and confessing to the saying of her sinful nature led her and the Samaritans to come to the Lord and be saved. (John 4:25,39-42)

For those who believed in Him for the saying and confessing of the woman which testified came to Lord, and believed on Him, for that this indeed was the Christ the Saviour of the world. (John 4:42) For one to wait upon the Lord just as this woman who said: “He will tell us all things” (John 4:25) needs to be led by the Spirit of God to confess our sinful nature as Paul writes to us (2 Cor 12:9), and believe in the Lord. For then out of our belly shall flow a river of living water (John 7:38) for then shall thou be born of God who is led by His Spirit. (John 10:29)

Hosea 3:1:Then said the LORD unto me, “Go yet, love a woman beloved of her friend, yet an adulteress, according to the love of the LORD toward the children of Israel, who look to other gods, and love flagons of wine.”
