What does Paul mean when he says we are to esteem others as better than ourselves in Philippians 2:3? Should we also consider ourselves?

Philippians 2:3

NKJV - 3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.

This is an interesting question. I have related it to the command that says love your neighbor as you love yourself. I think to love another person you have to love yourself first, so in the same way we should count ourselves important, but be like Jesus in our ways of living and consider our neighbors more important. Then we are able to learn from them and them from us.
