Why is there a need for healing leaves from the tree in Revelations?
If by then, the new heavens and earth are established, what will these leaves do or represent? Or is this now in heaven and how are they being used to heal the nations?
Revelation 22:2
ESV - 2 Through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

Lets see why the need for healing leaves from the tree in Revelations 22:2 ✿ Preservation of life for the natural, earthly nations, as well as for the resurrected saints (Rev. 2:7; 22:2). ✿ There will be no sickness, so no healing from disease, but eternal health and life will come from the leaves of the trees (Rev. 21:4; 22:2-21 cp. Gen. 3:22-24).

If a person on earth were to have a physical injury, such as breaking a leg or arm by accident, the leaves would accelerate the healing process dramatically. The healing leaves may also be good for internal organs whose functioning has somehow drifted below par. These leaves exist now within the paradise inside the walls of the New Jerusalem and will exist on earth after the descent of the New Jerusalem (Rev 21:2).There is probably no use for the leaves for those living in the New Jerusalem before it descends to earth, since as spirits they aren't subject to earthly ailments.

Rev 22:7,12 ‘I come quickly’ The reference is referring to the dispensation of the 1000 year kingdom because if you study the context you see our Lord Jesus is prophesying He is coming. He is not referring to the eternal kingdom here but His Millennial reign. Long longevity of life will be present during this time according to Isaiah 65 which this passage is referring to why long longevity of life will be part of the economy. Heaven is not the topic here, but remember the New heaven and Earth comes after this period. The tree of Life will be in the eternal kingdom, but not for healing it will not be needed because all will be redeemed who are in heaven. Remember Adam and Eve had the tree of life in the garden of Eden but it was not needed and only became active with sin becoming present.
